This research report is about “The trend of using social media among MMU Students while discussing assignments”. The main objectives of conducting this research is to find out the different types of social media platforms used by MMU students when discussing assignments. This research is based on a survey of 45 respondents. Based on the research, it shows that the majority of our respondents like to use Facebook, Whatsapp and Skype while engaging discussion with their group mates. Besides, this report is also conducted to identify different purposes of using social media such as to share documents & files, to cope with current trend and so on. We also conducted this research to find identify problems that the students face such as inconsistent network, miscommunication. Furthermore, we also tried to come up with recommendations on ways to overcome the problems. Majority of the respondents suggested that applying tighter privacy settings could be the best way to avoid third party involvement which can eliminate the problems to a certain extend.

Web 2.0 transformation, which represents a new era in Internet applications, provided an interactive platformmore than ever before with its opportunity to enable create and share content by users and has changed the user's role as an active participant instead of passive audience of the contents. Social media, that gains a huge popularity in consequence of Web 2.0 transformation, gradually reaches users everyday and stands out as a highly effective communication platform. In this study, social media usage behaviors of individualswere studied in the case of the province of Eskişehir. Data were collected through a questionnaire conducted with 401 persons and both descriptive and inferential statistics were used for the analysis.

This report presents the study of the uses of technology and social media. The aim of this study is to explore the use of technology and social media, and the effect it has on people. I chose this study as I use a lot of technology and spent a lot of time on social media another reason I decided to research this topic is that it is very relevant in today’s society as lots of people now use it to connect with others, especially during this coronavirus. Use of social media is up by as much as 70% in some countries, and the use of group video calling and messaging has seen growth rates of 1000% in some places (Knapman, 2020) In order to collect the data I used quantitative research, “quantitative research is explaining phenomena by collecting numerical data that is analysed using mathematically based methods such as statistics” (Introduction to quantitative research, 2010). I created an online survey that allows everyone to participate in the research. After all the data have been gathered, it was transferred to SPSS and analysed using crosstabulation. By using crosstabulation it allowed me to compare factors such as age and gender with the uses of technology and social media. This included the types of technology used, the hours spent using them and the impact it has had on their lives.
