Telus launches Business SharePro plans with three-year device financing – MobileSyrup
Telus appears to be the first to bring back three-year device financing, but only for medium and large business customers.
The Vancouver-based national telecom company launched its new Telus Business SharePro rate plans with Telus EasyPayment device financing. Offers include a $45 per month 5GB plan and a $55 per month 10GB plan. Both plans include shareable data, unlimited talk and text within Canada and to the U.S., Easy Roam, visual voicemail, call waiting, caller ID, conference calling and 2,500 call forward minutes.
“We are excited to launch our new TELUS Business SharePro rate plans with TELUS Easy Payment device financing, which makes it simple for mid-market business customers to finance, interest free, any smartphone in our line-up over 36 months for zero dollars upfront,” Telus told MobileSyrup in an email statement.

The biggest addition, of course, is three-year (36-month) device financing, which lets businesses get any device in Telus’ lineup for $0 upfront and 0 percent APR on a three-year term.
Considering the CRTC asked all the carriers to stop offering three-year financing terms last year , it may seem odd that Telus just rolled out new financing options of that length.
When asked, the carrier told MobileSyrup that three-year wireless service plans “have been widely available for mid-market customers” for years and that they are “consistent with CRTC regulations.” Further, the company noted that it does not offer these plans to small business customers in “accordance with CRTC regulations.”
If you’re a business owner looking to upgrade your team with new phones, Telus’ new Business SharePro plans and EasyPayment device financing could be a good way to go.
You can learn more about the plans on Telus’ website .

Google’s pixel 8 and watch 2 launch event set for october 4.
Google’s started sending out invites for its Pixel event, set to take place in October.
Key Takeaways
- Google has announced an upcoming event on October 4 where they are expected to showcase their next generation smartphones, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, along with new wearables.
- The design of the new Pixel devices is expected to be similar to previous models, but with notable improvements such as better cameras and the inclusion of an IR thermometer. The phones will also feature the Tensor G3 chip and Android 14.
- In addition to the smartphones, there is speculation that Google may also introduce the Pixel Watch 2, with hopes that it will include improvements to battery life, health, and fitness tracking.
Summer’s almost over and now we’re going to start heading into the busiest part of the tech season. So far, Apple has already share its plans with an event set to take place on September 12 , now Google has started sending out invites to its event that will take place on October 4. As far as what to expect, the event should showcase the companies next Pixel devices and we might even see new wearables.
While Google has yet to post the news on its social platforms, the news comes from YouTuber Marques Brownlee, who shared an image on X (formerly Twitter) of the invitation for the event. From the looks of it, the in-person event will take place in New York, and while the company hasn’t shared what exactly will be shown off, we have a pretty good idea of what’s to come thanks to months or leaks and rumors.
In two months time, we expect Google to show its next generation smartphones, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro . As far as the design, we’re getting pretty similar looking devices when compared to the previous models, but there will be notable changes like improvements to the cameras , and the possible inclusion of an IR thermometer . The phones will also pack a new Tensor G3 chip and will also arrive with Android 14 and some nifty software features as well.
For the most part, this should be a pretty standard release, but there are some things that Google could improve that would really take these phones over the top, like an improved fingerprint reader, display refresh rate parity between the standard and Pro models, and more. In addition to the new smartphones, there’s also the chance that Google will introduce a new smartwatch with the Pixel Watch 2 .
Last year’s Pixel Watch was one of the best smartwatches for Android users and many are expecting marked improvements for the successor like longer battery life, improved health and fitness tracking, better accessory support, and more. Of course, we won’t know what’s to come until the date finally arrives, but luckily, October 4 isn’t that far off.

PlayStation Plus Essential Free Games For September 2023 Revealed

September 2023’s lineup of free PlayStation Plus Essential games has been officially confirmed. Following a leak that indicated as much Saints Row is the headliner in this next batch of games. Available from September 5 through October 3, September’s PS Plus games also include Black Desert: Traveler Edition and Generation Zero. All PS Plus members across Essential, Extra, and Premium tiers can claim them once they become available next week.
Saints Row was originally released in 2022 and is a reboot of the franchise that is themed around the idea of self-made success, only with gratuitous violence and devastation instead of more legal methods of entrepreneurship.
Like the original games, it’s set in an open-world environment in which you can unleash some explosive chaos, insurance fraud, and help solidify the Saints as the top gang in town. The game received lukewarm reviews when it first launched due to a variety of technical bugs and janky gameplay, but developer Volition has updated Saints Row with several substantial patches and content drops since then.
“Combat is decent, and the story missions are enjoyable when at their most over-the-top, but there’s too much bland filler in between,” Richard Wakeling wrote in GameSpot’s Saints Row review . “Rebooting the series made sense, yet in many ways, Saints Row is still stuck in the past and struggling to live up to its legacy.”
Generation Zero is set in a dangerous version of 1980s Sweden, where players will have to battle and survive against deadly machine enemies. The game can be played alone or with up to three friends in online co-op, and by scavenging parts from fallen enemies, you can craft equipment, weapons and ammunition for the battles that lie ahead.
Black Desert is a fantasy MMORPG with fast-paced PvE combat, large-scale PvP siege wars, and multiple character classes to master, and the Traveler Edition throws in multiple add-ons for the base version of the game. PS Plus members who have already purchased any edition of Black Desert other than the Traveler Edition may redeem the standalone Traveler Item pack.
Also of note to PS Plus members is that the price of every PlayStation Plus tier is increasing starting September 6, with the six and 12-month subscriptions becoming noticeably more expensive.
August’s PS Plus games can still be claimed, and this is a particularly good selection that’ll be available until September 4. PGA Tour 2K23, Dreams, and Death’s Door were made available, giving PS Plus subscribers a selection of games excellent indie, sports, and unique game creation tools.
PlayStation Plus free games for September 2023
Available September 5-October 3
- Saints Row (PS5, PS4)
- Black Desert: Traveler Edition (PS4)
- Generation Zero (PS4)

.NET Upgrade Assistant: Project Features Upgrade and .NET MAUI Improvements – InfoQ.com

Microsoft has announced an updated version of the .NET Upgrade Assistant in Visual Studio . The new release brings on a series of enhancements designed to simplify the migration process for .NET MAUI. Notably, developers can now also upgrade project features without needing to change the existing .NET version.
The newest addition to the .NET Upgrade Assistant Extension in Visual Studio is based, as reported, on a very popular user and feedback request to enable conversion of the old style project file to the new SDK-style project file, but without changing the .NET framework version. From this version when developers try to do the upgrade two options will be available: Upgrade project to a newer .NET version and Upgrade project features .
(Source: Microsoft DevBlogs )
As reported, clicking on Upgrade project features reveals the available upgrades for the project, currently including transitioning to an SDK-style project file. The team also plans to add more upgrade types in the future based on user feedback. If your project file is already in SDK-style , developers will only see the .NET version upgrade option. Furthermore, you can now easily compare your project file before and after the upgrade. To contribute to the evolution of the feature, users are encouraged to provide feedback regarding their specific upgrade needs.
Another noteworthy inclusion involves improvements in the migration process to .NET MAUI. Developers who are working on macOS can now utilize the CLI version of the .NET Upgrade Assistant to upgrade their apps. The developers who are transitioning manually from Xamarin.Forms to .NET MAUI, an automatic code-fixing feature has been introduced.
This means that developers can easily paste Xamarin.Forms project files into a .NET MAUI project, and the new Upgrade Assistant C# analyzer will provide suggestions to ensure that the code aligns with .NET MAUI. Alongside these substantial additions, several bug fixes and improvements have been implemented, with a commitment to ongoing enhancements in the domain of .NET MAUI upgrades.
Regarding the future of the tool, Olia Gavrysh, Senior Product Manager, .NET , in the original blog post stated the following:
We will continue working on improving the quality of upgrades, adding more feature upgrades, improving migration for .NET MAUI and addressing your feedback.
In response to the user comment , the team has acknowledged interest in the Upgrading project features feature’s availability in the CLI version. As reported, the feedback has been positive, and suggestions include expanding SDK conversion options and optimizing upgrades for legacy techniques. The team is actively considering these ideas for future updates. While the CLI version currently lacks these features, their inclusion depends on community demand.
Lastly, there’s a survey available to gather feedback about the new feature for upgrading .NET projects in Visual Studio. Users are encouraged to take part in the survey to share their experiences and suggest improvements. Developers can also find more information and details about the .NET Upgrade Assistant on the official Microsoft dotnet website .

Telus discounts its 40GB and 50GB plans by $5/mo for a limited time
Telus' 40gb plan now costs the same as the $85/25gb plan.
Vancouver-based national carrier Telus has discounted two of its “unlimited” plans by $5/mo and raised another by $5/mo
Telus’ $90/mo 40GB plan now costs $85, while its $100/mo 50GB plan now costs $95. Both changes are marked as limited-time offers — it’s not clear how long they’ll stick around.
The $85/40GB offer is particularly good — as far as $85/mo plans go — since it’s the same price as Telus’ $85/25GB plan, but with an extra 15GB of data. More importantly, however, is that the $85/40GB plan doesn’t have the 250Mbps data speed cap that the 25GB plan has. Instead, the 40GB plan has a 1Gbps speed cap.
If the data speed caps sound weird to you, that’s likely because they’re new. Telus added speed caps to its mobile plans back in February . On the one hand, 250Mbps is probably more than enough speed for the majority of mobile users. On the other hand, it’s yet another restriction applied to obscenely expensive mobile plans. Plus, Telus applied speed caps to its flanker brand Koodo too .

It’s also worth noting that when Telus added the speed caps to its plans, the base 20GB plan cost $80/mo. Sometime between February 17th and now, Telus changed that plan to $85/mo for 25GB — it’s not entirely clear when that change happened.
Regardless, if you’re in the market for a plan with 40GB of data, Telus’ new $85/40GB plan is an all right offer by comparison — both Rogers and Bell offer $95/mo 45GB plans, but I’d happily take $10/mo in savings for 5GB less data.
