However, Zoom has now consolidated its Meetings, Team Chat, Whiteboard, and Zoom Phone products into a single package called Zoom One .

All Zoom One paid plans support 1080p video and HD voice , offer TLS encryption for security, and provide a wide range of features, like virtual backgrounds , breakout rooms , and screen sharing , among other features previously included on Zoom Meetings that have now been carried over to Zoom One.

Zoom One comes in five different pricing plans: Basic , Pro , Business , Business Plus, and Enterprise . It's worth noting that these plans all offer a discount if you pay annually – these are the prices we've included below. If you don't want to commit to paying annually, you can expect to pay slightly more per month.

Zoom One Basic costs nothing for individual users hosting 40-minute meetings with fewer than 100 people, and includes Zoom's Team Chat function. Zoom One Pro is $12.49 per license, per month and includes Zoom Meetings, Team Chat, and 5GB of Cloud Storage. Zoom Business costs $18.33 per license, per month and will let you host meetings with up to 300 attendees, while the more expensive Business Plus plan costs $22.49 per license, per month and includes Zoom's VoIP phone solution with unlimited regional calls. Both the Business and Business Plus plans come with a ten-user minimum , while Basic and Pro do not.

The Zoom One Enterprise plan has no public pricing, a 500-attendee limit on meetings, and a slightly more expansive VoIP phone plan.

Zoom One Basic – Free

If you've used Zoom before, you're likely familiar with the Basic plan, as it's the free plan offered to everyone. Our research found it to be the best free conference call service on the market too, even beating massive names like RingCentral and Google Meet to the punch. This is largely due to the fact that Zoom is incredibly easy to use, while still offering robust business-facing offers.

Zoom One Basic offers users the ability to host unlimited meetings for up to 100 participants . All meetings are capped at 40 minutes, however, and only one license is allowed per account. Zoom used to allow meetings with more than three participants to run up to 30 hours, but this functionality was reigned in as of May 2022 .

Zoom One Basic also offers a limited support option in the form of a help center. There's also a Team Chat function for collaboration and file sharing, as well as 3 editable whiteboards and a little bit of storage so you can keep your work for next time.

Despite being free, this plan still gives you access to all the Zoom features you love, including virtual backgrounds and breakout rooms, the latter of which are key tools for running great team workshops. Zoom One Pro – $12.49 per user, per month

While the Zoom One Basic plan is decidedly robust for a free plan, it does have some notable limitations, like time caps and limited support options. With Zoom One Pro, you'll be able to get a little more flexibility for your team for only $12.49 per license, per month.

Zoom One Pro comes with all the features listed above while allowing for 100 meeting participants and up to 9 licenses . You'll also essentially get rid of the meeting cap, moving it to a full 30 hours , which no reasonable person would ever need to exceed. But don't worry if you have a tendency to host really long meetings – you'll get 5GB of cloud storage per license for storing meeting recordings. Additionally, you get access to live chat support options, so you can actually get any help you need quickly and effectively.

Zoom One Pro adds some features that could be beneficial to your business as well, including analytical reporting and social media streaming to Facebook Live and YouTube. You'll even unlock interoperability with Skype for Business , in the event that your team is transitioning from another platform.

Zoom One Pro pricing is right in line with the industry, with other options like RingCentral ($11.99 per user, per month) and GoTo Meeting ($12 per user, per month) costing almost exactly the same. Google Meet ($6 per user, per month) and Microsoft Teams ($4 per user, per month), on the other hand, are notably more affordable, but you'll want to be sure that you're up for all the additional bloat that comes with those platforms.

Zoom One Business – $18.33 per user, per month

If you're hoping to find a video conferencing plan that caters to medium and large-sized businesses, Zoom One Business has got you covered. This plan offers more features, more participants, and more licenses, all at the low cost of $18.33 per license, per month , billed annually.

Zoom One Business comes with all the features we've already mentioned while allowing for up to 300 participants and up to 99 licenses . Naturally, you're still without the meeting time cap, and you'll get live chat support, as well as an added phone support option and a service ticket tool for even more comprehensive customer service.

As you'd expect, you also get more business-focused features when you shell out the extra money for the Zoom One Business plan, such as single sign-on , an admin portal , and company branding features. It also expands on features that Pro offers: For example, Pro offers three editable whiteboards, but Business removes the cap entirely, allowing for unlimited whiteboard use. The extra capability makes this a great plan for a remote or hybrid company, in which team-building workshops must function just as well on a screen as in-person.

Zoom Phone includes unlimited internal calling , native apps for Windows and macOS, 3-way ad hoc conference calls , call recording, toll-free numbers, and specified call blocking , among other useful business phone functions. There's also 24/7 global customer care on the Business Plus fan for Zoom Phone users.

Zoom One Enterprise – Custom quote

Globally-renowned companies need enterprise-level video conferencing solutions, and that's where Zoom One Enterprise comes in. There's no public pricing available for this plan, but it does require you to sign up for at least 250 licenses.

As you can imagine, Zoom One Enterprise comes with all the features listed above, while allowing for 500 meeting participants  and unlimited cloud storage . Plus, you get access to the same live chat and phone support from the Business and Business Plus plans, so you'll have help on-hand whenever you need it.

Zoom One Enterprise is the second Zoom plan with Zoom Phone included, but it's a bit more advanced than what you get on the Business Plus plan. Features include metered outbound calls, call queues & IVR, and a Common Area Phone .

How Do I Switch to Zoom?

It’s hard to overstate just how big an impact Zoom had on the United States workforce in 2020. Though many Americans may never have given the web conferencing tool a single thought the year prior, in the aftermath of forced shutdowns, Zoom became a lifesaver for many companies with employees working at home. The brand is an industry leader and one of our favorite telecommuting apps. Read on to learn more about Zoom and why it is a standout video conferencing service.

Zoom Video Communications, more commonly known as just “Zoom,” was the brainchild of Eric Yuan, previously an executive and engineer at Cisco Systems. Zoom completed its IPO in 2019 and joined the NASDAQ-100 in 2020.

While it’s true that Zoom saw its usage skyrocket off the back of the global pandemic, the company was always on an upward trajectory. Zoom ultimately owes its success to a robust service that provides excellent video and webinar conferencing tools and other top-quality services.

Zoom’s Meetings platform is one of the most popular video conferencing systems in the world. This video conferencing software offers excellent video and audio streaming for free. The service is scalable to a degree, beginning with the free Basic plan and upgrading to options that bring vast amounts of integrations and data storage options to the table.

Zoom’s Basic plan is permanently free; you aren’t required to submit credit card information to use it. With Basic, you get:

  • Unlimited group meetings hosted up to 40 minutes
  • Unlimited one-to-one meetings, with each session having a 30-hour time limit
  • The ability to host up to 100 participants
  • The option of private and group chats

Additionally, the free version includes access to a host of business integrations, including Asana, Salesforce, Alexa, HubSpot and Workplace, among many others. Zoom also doesn’t make you pay extra for whiteboard tools, screen sharing, audio and video recordings or the ability to integrate with Google Calendar.

Zoom’s Basic tier may feel complete if you are someone who only needs a single license. However, if you desire unlimited meetings or specific web conferencing tools, you’ll want to consider upgrading.

With the Pro tier, you get everything in Basic plus:

  • Social media streaming
  • Co-hosting and alternate hosting
  • Ability to designate anyone on the Pro plan to schedule meetings
  • A gigabyte (GB) of cloud recording per license
  • Skype for Business
  • Live transcription
  • Live streaming through YouTube, Facebook or a third-party service
  • Usage reports
  • User management tools

The Pro plan costs $15.99 per license, per month; Zoom recommends it for small teams as you can only buy a maximum of nine licenses.

The Business tier brings everything in the Basic and Pro plan, plus a few crucial additions:

  • Ability to host meetings for up to 300 participants
  • Recording transcripts
  • Admin portal for simplified billing, user management and usage insights
  • Language interpreters, who receive their own audio channels
  • Single sign-on (SSO)
  • Company branding
  • Managed domains

This plan is aimed at small businesses that need between 10 and 99 licenses. Although priced at $19.99 per license, you can expect to invest, at minimum, about $199.90 per month. There is also a Business Plus plan that is $25 per user, per month, which is similar to the Business plan, but adds unlimited regional phone, translated captions and workspace reservations. It also adds 5GB of cloud storage space.

Zoom has a large enterprise-ready plan available for businesses with 1,000 or more employees that require more than what’s available at the lower tiers. It also requires a minimum purchase of 50 licenses.

The Enterprise tier is custom-priced and you must contact Zoom’s sales department directly to move forward with a purchase. Enterprise is the only premium tier where annual agreements are mandatory; you can pay the total cost upfront or agree to pay month to month.

This highest tier has everything from the previous plans, with the addition of features like:

  • Ability to host up to 500 participants
  • Customer success management
  • Executive business reviews
  • Webinar 500
  • Bundled discounts

Enterprise is without a doubt the priciest option available. However, features like unlimited cloud storage make the package enticing for larger teams.

There are a few extra service options Zoom left out of its premium plans.

When integrated with your desired tier plan, these add-ons will undoubtedly boost your service. However, Zoom’s decision to create separate charges for options that could come standard with rival tier plans could work against it.

  • Free plan. Zoom makes many of its most useful web conferencing features, such as screen sharing and whiteboard tools, available to use without a premium subscription.
  • Easy to use. Zoom is very easy to install and use, either on desktop or via mobile phone. It’s even possible to join Zoom as a participant without creating a new account.
  • Dozens of integrations. Zoom connects seamlessly with many crucial software tools vital to modern businesses, making it easier than ever for organizations to collaborate remotely to complete important projects.

Although Zoom has a lot going for it overall, there are a few things you’ll want to know ahead of time before signing up for a paid plan. First, it’s crucial to take note of how many licenses you’ll need and the tier plan for which you’ll qualify. For example, if you know your company will need 15 licenses, you’ll need the Business plan since that’s too many licenses for the Pro tier.

One particular sticking point with Zoom is how it treats technical support. If you use the Basic plan, the best option you have is the Help Center. As a Pro tier customer, you would be able to submit a ticket and get help via chat, but if you want to speak with an actual person, you must upgrade to Business or higher.

Although monthly contracts are available at the Business tier, it’s at this point that Zoom makes multi-year contracts available. The annual agreement becomes mandatory for the Enterprise-level customer. It may be possible in some cases to edit your plan, switching from annual to monthly or the reverse. If you want to cancel your subscription, you’ll need to do so before the next billing cycle. Otherwise, you will get charged automatically.

Security Concerns

As quickly as Zoom gained popularity, it also gained a fair bit of backlash over its privacy and security issues. As such, while Zoom remains a top-rated web conferencing platform, its spotty security history might make some reluctant to create an account.

During our research, we found that some customers complained about the inability to remove comments created by online trolls who invade meeting spaces in a practice known as “Zoombombing.” Zoom has managed to address most issues within the past year. One way to avoid unwanted guests in your meetings is to have all participants join using a password.

Zoom’s services are competitively priced, and if you’re not looking to spend money, it provides free web conferencing tools. As such, Zoom is great for small and large businesses alike. That said, if you run a large company and you aren’t impressed with mandatory contracts, or you don’t like the idea of having to upgrade for reliable tech support, then Zoom might not be an ideal fit for you.

Do you need a Zoom account to join a meeting?

No. While the person who starts a meeting and invites you will need an account, participants aren’t required to sign up for Zoom.

How do I set up video conferencing with Zoom?

To join a video conference using Zoom, you need a webcam, microphone and speakers. While you don’t need a Zoom account, you do need to download its software before joining or hosting a call. To set up a conference room in your office, contact a rep with the video conference service.

Is Zoom free to download?

Zoom is free for download and use on desktop computers and other internet-ready devices through the “Basic” subscription plan.

Is Zoom safe to use?

Although Zoom experienced various security and privacy issues during 2020, the brand has since stepped up protection to make the platform safer to use. If you’re worried about online trolls invading meetings, it may be a good idea to have participants join using a password.

Zoom Pricing and Subscriptions: How Much Does Zoom Cost?

Zoom has several different online conferencing solutions, which all have their own pricing plans and subscription models. On top of the service(s) you choose, certain products have different service tiers. These include more of the features Zoom is capable of, allowing you to get the tools and performance you want.

There are also a whole bunch of add-ons available that let you further customize your experience. But how much do you have to pay for all of it? Don’t worry– we’re here to make sense of Zoom’s costs for you.

Alright, let’s get to answering the million-dollar (not literally, though) question here: how much does Zoom cost?

How much does a Zoom account cost to create? Zero! It’s entirely free. But with the free account, you’re limited to just the Zoom Meetings platform, and have other restrictions on how it’s used (we’ll get to those later). Purchasing a subscription to an upgraded tier of Meetings – or another product entirely – unlocks additional functionality.

Zoom plans and their prices vary, based mainly on three things:

  • Which services you use
  • How long you use them (including whether you’re billed monthly or annually)
  • How broadly you deploy services within your organization, such as how many “hosts” you license to schedule meetings

So what does Zoom’s pricing actually look like? We’ll break it down for you by service and subscription options below.

The prices listed below are Zoom’s U.S. pricing. You can change which currency prices appear on Zoom’s website by scrolling to the bottom of any page, clicking the drop-down menu marked “Currency,” and selecting one of the available options.

Zoom Meeting plans comparison and breakdown

Zoom Meetings is the most well-known of Zoom’s services, offering reliable teleconferencing that supports audio, video, text chat, screen sharing, and more. Here’s a quick price breakdown of the four different tiers of service, and a comparison of the features shared between them.

In the meantime, we’ll take a quick look at each tier of Zoom Meetings, including what it costs, what it features, and who it’s best for.

Zoom Meetings Basic

Cost : Free!

Best for : Person-to-person calls or short meetings of small groups

Basic keeps your Zoom Meetings cost as low as it can go, because it’s absolutely free! There is no limit on either the number of meetings you can schedule or the amount of time a meeting with two or fewer participants can last. However, meetings joined by at least 3 people (including the host) can only last a maximum of 40 minutes. On the other hand, even the Basic plan allows you to have up to 100 people on a call at once – which is many more than some of Zoom’s competitors!

A Basic plan also allows you to make recordings of the meeting’s audio/video/text chat. However, they can only be saved locally on your desktop computer; this feature doesn’t work at all with mobile devices (i.e. those running iOS or Android). Customer support is also limited.

Zoom Meetings Pro

Monthly cost : $14.99/month/host

Annual cost : $12.49/month/host (billed as $149.90/year/host)

Best for : Small business teams needing more control, flexibility, and analysis in their conferencing

Pro tier is a step up from the Basic package. Its main draw is that it extends the time limit for group calls to a full 24 hours. The participant limit is still capped at 100, but it can be expanded to 500 or even 1000 with purchasable add-ons. Pro also unlocks 1GB of cloud storage space on your Zoom account, so you don’t necessarily have to save meeting records locally on your device. This is the only way to record meetings on an iOS or Android device.

In addition, Pro offers a suite of handy management tools so you can add more members to your account and assign roles within your group, including additional hosts. You also get analytics functions so you can track things like how many meetings you’re having, how many participants attend them, and how long they last. Finally, Pro allows you to integrate third-party apps to enhance your Zoom Meetings experience and get more from the tool.

Zoom Meetings Business

Monthly cost : $19.99/month/host with a 10-host minimum ($199.90/month min.)

Annual cost : $16.66/month/host with a 10-host minimum ($1999/year min.)

Best for : Medium-size businesses or schools looking to coordinate between branches

Business tier is for larger organizations wanting to really integrate Zoom into their teleconferencing and marketing systems. For example, it lets you send custom invites to clients, design unique virtual meeting rooms with your company’s name and branding images, and allow users to login to Zoom through your institution’s credentials. That last feature works for schools, too, and it makes it a snap to include Zoom as a key tool in many common learning management systems.

Business tier also ups the meeting participant cap to 300 (although you can still purchase add-ons to increase that limit to 500 or 1000) and allows you to auto-generate transcripts of meeting recordings you save to your Zoom account. You can also set up your recordings to be shared on your organization’s private cloud. Finally, you get more powerful analytics controls and dedicated phone-in customer support.

Zoom Meetings Enterprise

Cost : $19.99/month/host with a 100-host minimum ($1999/month min.)

Best for : Large companies that need multinational communication and coordination

Enterprise tier is for huge organizations that may be looking to use multiple Zoom teleconferencing solutions at once. The regular Enterprise plan caps meetings at 500 participants, while the Enterprise Plus plan stretches that limit to 1000 people. You also get unlimited cloud storage for all your call recordings, even more powerful analytics tools in the form of executive business reviews, and a dedicated customer success agent for support.

Choosing the Enterprise plan can also get you discounts on Zoom pricing if you bundle in other Zoom services, such as Zoom Rooms and Zoom Video Webinars. However, it’s still the most expensive Zoom Meetings pricing plan.

Zoom phone call and Zoom meeting call

Zoom Phone is an add-on service that upgrades Zoom from a teleconferencing hub into a full-on call management center. It includes features for making and receiving phone calls over either WiFi or cellular data/minutes, receiving voicemail messages, and exchanging text messages. It can also reroute and record calls, too! And it has apps for Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android. You can even keep your existing phone number to use with it!

You must have at least one person on your account with at least a Zoom Meetings Pro subscription to use this feature.

Zoom Phone pricing

Standard Zoom phone call rates apply to Zoom Phone pricing for all plans in the table above, except for the “Unlimited Calling” plan (and the extra phone numbers).

Best Zoom Phone use cases

Zoom Phone is a handy addition to Zoom’s standard functions if your company or other organization uses telephone as a key method of external communication. For example, your company may need a centralized place to call potential customers or partners from. Or you may set up Zoom Phone to act as your customer service hotline, responding to calls and messages from clients who need their questions answered.

Zoom Rooms offers a specialized software-driven solution that turns space in your office into a custom conference room! All you need in terms of equipment is a computer, video & audio input and output, a device with the control app installed, and a display. Check out some of Zoom’s hardware recommendations to get the most from your service.

As for installing the system, you can do it yourself by following these instructions . If you don’t feel you have the time or know-how, though, you can hire one of Zoom’s partnered professional integrator services , or ask Zoom’s dedicated team .

There are also ways of retrofitting rooms that have previously-installed conferencing hardware and software with Zoom’s technology. And Zoom Rooms prices are the same whether you’re doing a complete overhaul of a room, or just adapting the system that’s already there.

Monthly cost : $49/month/room

Annual cost : $41.58/month/room (billed as $499/year)

Best for : Organizations looking to build a conferencing solution from the ground up

Zoom Rooms make it simple to do things like start and join Zoom meetings, as well as share content wirelessly with coworkers in your immediate vicinity. It even supports touch screen displays, and integrates with several common calendar apps to make booking, monitoring, and managing your room(s) a snap!

Best for : Organizations with existing conference equipment looking to upgrade it

If you have one or more rooms in your office that are already set up with professional conferencing systems from the likes of Polycom, Cisco, or Lifesize, then you’re in luck! You can purchase this add-on to order special devices that integrate your on-hand hardware with Zoom Rooms!

You must have a Zoom Rooms license for at least one other room in your office to use this feature.

Zoom Webinars pricing: live virtual events & broadcasts

Zoom even has a platform for hosting large-scale interactive online webinars with up to 100 panelists and anywhere from 100 to 10,000 attendees (depending on the plan you select). It streamlines the registration process by allowing you to add your branding to invitation emails and sign-up forms, integrating with many common CMS platforms, and even permitting pay-for-admission through a Zapier PayPal add-on.

Zoom Video Webinars has a bunch of other neat features, too. You can engage attendees by running polls and including a section for asking questions. Increase accessibility with closed captioning and auto-generating transcripts, all while automatically recording the session for future use. You can even simulcast to Facebook Live and YouTube to extend your audience even further! And when it’s all done, a suite of analytics tools will give you a quantifiable overview of how your presentation did.

Zoom Webinars pricing

Zoom conference pricing is based on the maximum number of attendees (not including panelists) you want to allow at each webinar, as well as how many people have host licenses to schedule webinars.

Best Zoom Webinars use cases

Zoom Video Webinars is best used by larger-scale companies looking to show off what services they have to offer, or what their product can do, to a broad audience. It’s a great tool for networking, both with potential new clients and with partner firms that can take what your company does to the next level. 

Zoom offers a few other add-on packages to increase accessibility. These include the Audio Plan, for making phoning into meetings easier, and the Additional Cloud Recording Storage plan, to keep more meeting records if your conferences tend to last a while.

You must have at least one person on your account with a Zoom Meetings Pro subscription or higher-level subscription to use either of these features.

Plan cost : $100/month minimum + Zoom global telephone conferencing rates

Dedicated dial-in number cost : $10/number/month

Best for : Companies with teams/clients in remote regions with little Internet access

The Audio Plan add-on provides some extra flexibility for when people may need to join your meetings by phone instead of via the Internet. Some of the things it provides include toll-free call-in numbers, or even dedicated call-in numbers for particular meeting rooms (though this costs extra). You can even get the “call out” feature, where you can type someone’s phone number in the chat window to invite them to a meeting.

Additional cloud recording storage

Cost : $40/month (100 GB), $100/month (500 GB), or $500/month (3 TB)

Best for : Companies who hold and record frequent and/or lengthy meetings

A Zoom Meetings Pro plan comes with 1GB/month of memory space on your account to store recordings of your conferences. But if you hold meetings often, and/or they tend to go long, you may find yourself running out of space quickly. If that’s the case, you can purchase one of the above add-ons to expand your account’s storage capacity.

There is an additional charge per GB used if you go over the limits specified by these plans. For the 100 GB plan, it’s $1.50. For the 500 GB plan, it’s $0.50. For the 3 TB plan, it’s $0.10.

Zoom has specialized plans and prices for particular industries and applications that Zoom is well-suited for. For example, schools can use it for on-demand and off-campus learning; doctors can use it to remotely and jointly examine, diagnose, and even treat patients; and developers for cloud-based software companies can build Zoom’s collaboration features into their service instead of making similar ones from scratch. Let’s take a quick look at Zoom’s nonprofit pricing and plans, based on specific applications that Zoom is ideally suited for.

Zoom for Education

Cost : $90/host/year (minimum 20 hosts)

Zoom has packages available for both elementary and post-secondary schools that can be leveraged in many different ways. For instance, multiple classes of similar levels or subjects can share class recordings and notes, or participate together in a virtual or hybrid seminar/field trip with a guest speaker. Virtual meetings and office hours can make mentorship opportunities between students and teachers more accessible, such as study groups, tutoring sessions, and career counseling.

Of course, Zoom can also facilitate inter-faculty management with classroom analytics, staff training and work groups, and even meetings and announcements across campuses and other school networks.

Zoom for Telehealth

Cost : Starting at $20/host/month (minimum 10 hosts)

Zoom has various applications in the healthcare sector. Physicians, patients, family members, and other specialists can collaborate for joint consultations that allow for sharing and annotating test results. These, of course, can all be saved for further follow-up and review. Zoom is also great for behavioral and other mental health counseling, and it can even integrate with some medical devices so doctors can perform exams and treatments remotely!

It’s also useful on the staff side for things like timely communication between hospital employees, as well as continuing education/training for all types of professional healthcare workers. It can even be used for purposes such as community webinars for at-risk populations to educate themselves and take preventative action on conditions, as well as coordinating medical responses to disasters or other crises.

Zoom for Developers

Annual fee : $5000/year

Cost : $2500/month (based on per-minute / per-participant; 50,000 included minutes)

If you’re a software developer looking to give your app similar functionality to Zoom Meetings without coding it from scratch, you can just integrate the real deal instead! The ISV Partner Program lets you build Zoom into your existing app, which provides a two-fold benefit. First, you don’t have to worry about building and managing a separate function on your app. Second, your customers don’t have to spend time learning how that function works, as many will likely already be familiar with Zoom. Additionally, the integration won’t redirect customers to the Zoom platform itself, letting them focus on using your product and your product only.  

So, how much does a Zoom subscription cost? Depending on how you use Zoom, it can end up costing you anywhere between absolutely nothing and several thousand dollars per month. So be sure to look carefully at Zoom membership prices and weigh them against what amount of value each plan can bring to your team or organization.
