Letter B Worksheets – 55+ Free Printables

Hello Daydreamers!
Bee, boat, bugs, ballerina, bread, and baby are just a few of the words I have been working on within my letter B worksheets for the past couple of weeks.
I have included over 55 worksheets to help your child master the letter B. You can print as many pages as you want for your child, student, or homeschooling co-op.
All these pages are in PDF format and designed to be printed on letter-sized paper. I tried my best to utilize the space but also give you enough room to perforate them and use a binder.
Feel free to print as many copies of the worksheets as you need for teaching purposes. However, please note that selling or claiming them as your own is prohibited. If you know of any fellow moms or teachers who would like to use them, please share the link to this article with them.

Letter B – Writing Practice Sheets
Practice makes perfect! Let’s begin practicing writing the letter B. I prepared both uppercase and lowercase writing practice sheets for your student.
I’ve also included letter formation prompts to help guide your child’s writing.
- Uppercase B: Down, around in, out and around.
- Lowercase b: Down, over around.
Depending on your child’s age, it’s perfectly fine if they only write a few letters.
I’ve provided a few different options for these practice sheets so you can offer some variety and keep things interesting.
On some of these writing practice worksheets, you will find an added component that aims to spark your student’s curiosity.
If you have very young children, 2-3, you may want to start with something short, like the following practice sheet.
Cursive B – Writing Practice Sheets
Next, we have the “Cursive B – Writing Practice Sheets” that include letter formation prompts to guide your child while learning to write cursive uppercase and lowercase “B.”
Kids nowadays are not taught cursive writing as much as before. However, it is still considered very beneficial since it helps develop fine motor skills and can activate a distinct part of the brain compared to regular writing.
Although similar to the previous B sheets, each has a different illustration.
I also included the letter formation prompt so you can guide your student while he learns how to write the cursive b.
- Cursive uppercase B : Swing up, down, up, around in, out, around.
- Cursive lowercase b: Swing way up, loop back down, up around, loop back, swing up.
Printing one of these worksheets can also give you extra ideas. For instance, you can do a small lesson about the most prominent buildings in the world.
I’ve also included the ASL sign for the letter b on the cursive practice sheet.
After your child colors and traces the worksheet, you can have them cut small pieces of paper and glue them to fit the letters.
Find, Color, and Circle – Letter B Worksheets
The “Find, Color, and Circle Worksheets” are great for younger students as they don’t take much time but emphasize the letter “B.”
Tip: If you’re in a one-to-one setting, allow the child to use a unique marker to feel extra special when completing the activity.
Dot markers (affiliate link) are another way to help children learn their letters, and you can pay attention to what your child likes, as it will help you tailor their learning as they grow.
Illustration-based learning is so much fun; my kids love it, and I am sure yours will, too!
I also have a different worksheet with the lowercase b because kids learn with repetition. Both sheets have other illustrations to spark curiosity in your kids.
Line Tracing Practice With Emphasis in Letter B
Line tracing worksheets are an excellent way to help develop your child’s fine motor skills.
It’s a good idea to have your little ones practice line tracing before they even get started with letter tracing.
The following line tracing worksheets emphasize the letter “B,” so you can expose your child to this letter in a fun way.
They get a bit more complicated as you scroll down, but they’re still entertaining and unique.
You can have the students use different colors on each line, and at the end, with supervision, have them cut through the dotted line.
Help the child identify the words that start with “B.”
Letter B Puzzles
Puzzles benefit the mind by enhancing memory, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and reducing stress.
Print, laminate, and cut around the puzzle pieces and have your child practice his letter b, all while gaining all the benefits I just mentioned.
I included a puzzle for the uppercase and lowercase b. However, if your child loves puzzles, I have a puzzle for each letter.
Letter B Maze Worksheets
Mazes are a fantastic way to instill problem-solving and cognitive skills in your kids. They help children think outside the box, sharpen memory, and teach patience and dedication.
The following mazes are for children aged 5+. They are easy but challenging, so your students will gain confidence as they practice.
The following maze is shaped in the form of an uppercase B.
This one is shaped in the form of a lowercase b.
See if your student can deduct that before you point it out!
If you want your child to practice writing while having fun with mazes, consider printing the following maze. It can serve as a prize once they finish working on their writing.
Kids, by nature, love mazes and labyrinths.
I also have other mazes.
- Help the bees get to the beehive.
- Help the boy get to the ball.
I think bees are one of the most exciting animals out there. Although I am a bit nervous around them, I am genuinely fascinated.
Take a chance to teach your kids about bees when teaching them about the letter B.
I love the following maze; I have two boys who love chasing balls!
Read and Match Letter B Worksheets
Have the student color the pictures and match them with the right word.
If the child doesn’t know how to read, he may need your help. You can read the words to them and encourage them to repeat them after you. This can help them improve their vocabulary and language skills while enjoying the activity.
Cut and Glue or Memory Game for Letter B
The following worksheets can be used in different ways.
I first designed them to have the child color, cut, and then glue the illustration on the right word. You can also use them as a memory game by printing the worksheets twice.
I never thought of how many sports start with the letter b, so I made an entire sheet with this in mind.
There’s also yummy food that starts with the letter b!
Ask your student what he likes the best.
Start with the number of sheets your child has the attention span for. Kids learn at every moment of the day, so it shouldn’t feel like a chore for them.
I Spy Worksheets for letter B
Make the most of your child’s time and learning by playing the fun ‘I Spy’ game.
Encourage them to color and count the different pictures that start with the letter ‘B’ and write the number at the bottom of the page.
This activity is perfect for keeping children engaged and entertained while dining out or on road trips.
Identify the Different Image Worksheets
I enjoy helping my children develop their cognitive skills by incorporating other subjects. This activity involves identifying which illustration is different from the rest.
All illustrations begin with the letter B, and they are challenging enough for a 2-4 year old. Although, my almost 6-year-old loves them and likes to point out the differences as I design them.
If the student struggles to identify the letter B, the following worksheet may help. The worksheet requires them to identify the different variations of the letter B.

Coloring Pages for Letter B
Coloring is an excellent tool for teaching children. The following worksheets are beautifully designed, and some of them include sections for practicing writing skills.
I have five different coloring pages for the letter B.
- B is for bee
- B is for bugs
- B is for ball
- B is for ballet
- B is for bakery
It’s incredible how much you can teach your child from just one page.
For example, take the “B is for Bugs” worksheet. You can teach your kids about all sort of bugs, where they live, what they like to eat, and why they have certain colors.
I also love the “B is for Bakery” worksheet. I have a sweet tooth and I love visiting bakeries. For some reason they make me feel special and cozy.

Letter B Flashcards
Learning doesn’t always happen at the table. Sometimes, going on a picnic with some flashcards can be more than enough to teach your little ones about a certain topic.
Print, laminate, and cut the following flashcards to bring on the go, or to mix things up!
All of these flashcard worksheets have examples of the uppercase and lowercase B.
Letter B – Color, Letter, and Number Recognition Worksheets
Teach your little ones numbers, color, and the letter B simultaneously. The beauty of teaching small children is that everything is interlaced, making things more enjoyable.
Instruct the student to draw a line to match the number of Bs.
On the following worksheet, your child will practice counting, identifying the uppercase from the lowercase b, and picking the right color.
If your children love color, they will love the following worksheet.
Letter B – Word Search
Find the words that start with the letter b.
Word search activities can be a fun and engaging way to improve spelling, concentration, and problem-solving skills while keeping the brain active.

I included three different worksheets because one is just too little for how amusing they are.

I included a free cover page which my kids love decorating before using it to create a letter B book. Here’s a tutorial on how to bind a book using your free printable letter b coloring pages.
I recommend starting with this Dot the Letters Worksheet to explain the difference between an uppercase B and a lowercase b. There are so many worksheets included, but this is a good place to begin your second letter teaching or learning.
You can also use this to teach kids beginning sounds, which is important for phonemic awareness. The beginning sounds for uppercase and lowercase “b” are the same. Both produce the “buh” sound. Check ou this adorable beginning sound alphabet monster matching activity .
‘B IS FOR’ WORKSHEETS
This is an example of a beginning letter picture and is suitable for younger kids. Let the kids say their phonics and then the keyword like this: ‘B-b- b is for beaver’. It really works! If the kids need a little extra practice, there are a few more similar pictures, like this adorable beaver.
These worksheets are aimed at reinforcing the association between the letter “b,” its corresponding sound, and a familiar word that begins with that letter. This helps children recognize and connect the visual representation of the letter “b” with its sound and real-world objects.
This worksheet is great for expanding vocabulary as it introduces four different images representing items that start with the letter “b,” accompanied by their written names, encouraging children to associate the letter with real-world objects and practice reading.

INTERACTIVE GAMES
I Spy is a classic game that helps kids improve visual discrimination. Kids will need to search for, find, and color in uppercase letter B.
I also included a lowercase letter b I Spy worksheet. You can make it a math activity by asking the kids to count how many ‘b”s there are.
Games are a good way to engage kids. This maze-like worksheet will help the kids work on letter identification and problem-solving.
FINE MOTOR WORKSHEETS
Crafts are a wonderful way to have a good time and develop fine motor skills. These worksheets require the kids to cut out the letters or objects and sort them based on whether or not they are associated with the letter b.
I like to add these pieces to a sensory bin filled with sand, and shaving cream to make it a sensory activity for younger children. The kids will first have to find the squares and then sort them.
Cute images are also added for children to easily identify objects that begin with the letter b, and objects that don’t.
This hands-on worksheet combines tracing, cutting, and pasting the letter b to complete the associated word.

TRACING AND COLORING PAGES
Tracing is also useful for calm down time. The focused movements can be soothing for the kids after a long day of classwork. These pages are also great to use as homework and many of them include images that kids can color in. We usually learn a letter a week, and practicing helps to reinforce letter learning.
These coloring pages are a class favorite. At the end of the week, each child can display it in the classroom or take it home. It adds a burst of color to the classroom, and kids can easily refer back to it when practicing.
This worksheet focuses on letter sounds. Check if your children can correctly identify and color the pictures that start with the /b/ sound.
End off the fun learning with this letter b mini book. If you’re compiling an alphabet book, remember to exclude this page. It can be used as a standalone resource by simply folding the page.

Tips for Teaching Letter S to Preschoolers & Kindergarteners
The letter B says /b/ as in: baby, bed , and boy . This /b/ sound is made as you send a quick burst of air through lightly closed lips.
B is a short sound letter, which means that it cannot be held out. (C,K, D, and G are other short sound words).
When you begin teaching letter B to preschoolers or kindergarteners practice is key.
Another thing to keep in mind for younger children, is visual letter confusion OR letter reversal . This confusion is very common as kids are learning their alphabet, but with a little bit of practice, can easily be straightened out. The letter b is typically confused with the letter d. (Try different strategies for learning letters and sounds to help with these common mixups.)

The first page asks the students to color in all the objects that begin with the letter B (bear, butterfly…).
There’s lots of tracing excercise to be found on the second page, as kids will be tracing the upper and lowercase letter B.

Check Out Your Free Printable Letter B Tracing Worksheets!
This first page is a great way to kick off your kid’s early writing practice!
Encourage your student to trace the dotted letters at the top of the page. Follow the numbers and arrows to make sure they print the letter correctly.
My own kids always found it tedious to follow the order, but it does make a big difference. If you try to make the “bumps” first and then add the stick, you run the risk of them not touching.
Then it looks like a lowercase /l/ and backward c or 3 – woops!
It is much better to make your “stick” first and then add on your bumps. This order will be important for future letters too – /m/, /n/, /r/.
Finish the sheet by having your child trace the lowercase letters and uppercase letters.
This practice sheet will give your young learners another chance to follow the arrows and trace the dotted lines.
If tracing is proving too much for their developing fine motor skills, tell your child that they can trace every other letter.
They can come back and finish the rest of the letters during morning work the following day or some other time.
Ask them to color the bird in a color that starts with the b sound. B-b-blue!
A good introduction to letter sounds!
This printable will not only help your child trace lower case letter b and uppercase letter B – it also gives some letter B CVC word practice!
Kids always love to discover words that they can actually read, so take some time to help them sound out and blend these short words.
Ask them if they can think of another kind of bat, which is a wonderful way to introduce homophones!
Okay, I have to say this is my favorite of the tracing sheets!
I love the cute bubble letters, butterfly picture, and simple layout. This is so much fun and just the thing to get little ones interested in letters!
This is a wonderful option for sliding into a dry erase pocket. Bring it out with a handful of bright dry erase markers for quick review.
If you’re looking for some hands-on activities, consider having your kids look through magazines and make a collage of letter B words!
Your student is going to love the letter B bear!
Give your student a handful of crayons to color both bears. Ask your student what the bear on the right is looking at – a bee!
Complete the activity by having your student trace all the letters.
Challenge your child to write a couple of their own letter in the open spaces.
Begin this worksheet by having your child trace the big and small letter B at the top of the page.
Then have your child trace each letter and write their own letter.
This is a great bridge to dropping the dotted lines and making their own letters correctly!
This printable has the dual function of letter tracing AND letter recognition skills.

****To further cement the concept, have your student place a b-b-blue dot on each letter B and a red dot on all the other letters.
This sheet has a slightly smaller font.
Make sure your student has a sharpened pencil and quality pencil grip to help them write and trace letter Bb correctly.
Complete the activity by tracing the letter B words: ball, bed, bus, and bag. Get in some extra alphabet practice by asking your child to identify each letter in the CVC words.
A new challenge!
Your student has some blank lines to fill in. Encourage him to trace and write upper case B and lower case b.
When they’re done, they will be rewarded with some pictures to color – a bear and bees!
This last worksheet has several different activities for your child.
Your student will start with coloring the large letter B in shades of blue. Then color the b-b-baby and b-b-bottle.
Have yoru student write a handful of quality letters on the blank lines.
End the activity by coloring only the pictures that start with the B sound – bear, bed, bee, and boat.
A Quick Note About Letter B Reversal Issues
Letter b and letter d are easily the most confusing letters of the alphabet for young children.
The large majority of kids will struggle with correctly identifying them, and that’s super normal.
Worksheet practice will help over time, but it is much better to start early with a strategy to help them remember the difference.
For my kids, that meant holding up their hands like “finger glasses.” I showed them how to sound out b-e-d, and then explained that their fingers spell that word if they had an /e/ between their hands.
So when they weren’t sure, I would ask them to hold their fingers up and check for themselves.
This is a fun way to give kids confidence to quickly tell the difference and avoid future frustration.
As you introduce the above letter b worksheets, be sure to start pointing out how they can make their left hand look like a lowercase letter b!
Ask them to do the same things with their right hand. Does it work? Nope!
When you start working through the letter d in a couple of weeks, you can introduce the right hand!

Completing the Activities
Before using our Letter B worksheets, it’s important to make sure that your child is familiar with the letter and its associated sound.
Start by pointing out objects in the home or environment that start with the letter B, such as books, balls, and bananas.
Once they have a basic understanding of what starts with the letter B, it’s time to introduce the worksheets.
Explain to your child what the worksheet is for, and how it can help them learn more about the letter B. Be sure to keep explanations short and straightforward so as not to overwhelm them.
Once they understand what the activity is all about, you can start doing the worksheets together.
Color by Letters
This free printable pack includes two color-by-letter activity pages. On each one, children will follow the color code to reveal the hidden images – an uppercase B and a lowercase b.
Not only do these color by code worksheets encourage children to follow directions, but they’re great for helping kids with letter recognition.
If your preschooler can’t read color words yet, feel free to shade in the crayon with the correct color and then have your kids match the color instead of the color word.
Color and Trace Pages
Coloring and tracing are both great fine motor skills. Coloring objects that begin with the letter Bb help kids learn the sound that “b” makes and introduces them to things that start with that sound.
Tracing the letters at the bottom of the page encourages children to practice proper pencil grip and letter formation .
You can also take a moment to point out to older children how the sentences at the bottom of the pages begin with capital letters and end with a period. This plants a seed for later when they begin learning about sentence structure.
Preschoolers will love connecting the dots from 1 to 59 to reveal a bicycle. When they’re done, they can color it and then trace the letters at the bottom of the page.
Tracing Lines
Tracing lines, as mentioned above, is a great motor skill builder. The bird-themed line tracing page is a great way to work on concentration, as well, as children work diligently to trace a variety of lines that go in all directions.
Dot markers are a lot of fun for little ones. They’re a nice change of pace from pencils and crayons.
I love that they strengthen motor skills and hand-eye coordination as kids line up the marker to dot each circle.
On these pages, preschoolers will use dot markers to build the letters B and b as well as fill in the Bb circles on a banana.
Scissor Practice
Learning to use scissors correctly is an important preschool skill. So, we’ve included a scissor practice page in this pack.
Children will color a butterfly, trace the letters B and b, and then cut out the butterfly.
Q-tip Painting
I love offering a variety of fine motor skills in my free printables. Painting with q-tips is a lot of fun for little ones.
They will work on their pincer grasp while picking up and using the q-tip. And, they’ll fine-tune their hand-eye coordination as they align the q-tip with each dot outlining the balloon.
Letter Maze
One last activity included in this printable is a letter maze. Children will color in all of the squares that contain the letter B or b.

Each page includes a picture to color and plenty of letters to trace.
If you have a preschooler at home, you can start with the capital letter B. Then simply move on to lowercase b whenever your child is ready.
This is a great handwriting exercise for kindergarten students learning to write.

Here we are at Letter B of Learning the Alphabet , printable ABC packs designed for kids who need to learn their letters and letter sounds.
In this pack are interactive learning activities {not just worksheets} for the Letter B plus a book list of read alouds that correspond with the Letter B in some way.

Learning the Alphabet was designed specifically for my daughter, who is almost 3 years old. She’s a very, active little thing, and loves to get right into our schoolwork, a little too much at times. Since she loves letters and playing with some of our hands-on manipulatives, I created all these activities with her in mind.
Letter B Pack Photos
Although I am not going to be sharing photos every time {because we are doing our packs in a different order}, here are just a couple of shots from our Letter Bb Pack. If you’d like to see more photos of the activities inside this pack, I have PLENTY in the introductory post to Learning the Alphabet .
Please note that the finished Letter B pack printables may look a little different than what you see below, as these shots were taken while I was in “testing” mode with her. 🙂
She also is becoming much more aware of print. I asked her to point to the word “book” on the page, and she found it right away. When I read to her these days, if I’m not quick enough, she tells me, “Say the words, mommy,” and points to the words on the page. Woohoo! She’s figuring out the language of reading!
She can NEVER get enough Do-a-Dot pages. Seriously. This little girl would do them all.day.long.
