Virtual University Assignments Process (2023)

The assignments and quizzes play a significant role at the university level. In this way, Virtual University has given a lot of importance to assignments and quizzes. Students who have completed all their assignments and quizzes, submitted them on time, and passed them with good marks, are awarded marks in the final exam based on a percentage.

In this post, we will discuss the complete VU assignments process at the virtual university, including how to complete assignments and submit them. Quizzes will be covered in another post. So, let’s get started.

Checking for Assignment Announcement in a Subject

First of all, how will we know if an assignment has been posted for any subject? Virtual University sends email notifications for any new announcements that are made. Additionally, when we login to the VULMS portal, a red notification appears on “Assignment” below each subject for which an assignment has been posted, indicating to us that an assignment is available.

How to Do Assignments at VU ?

Manage your study time well by using a planner or diary to pace your activities appropriately. Start your course assignments early. Do not wait until the last moment. You will need time to gather relevant information, discuss and interact with your course mates and look for additional resources to complete the assignments.

Read through the assignment carefully and find out exactly what is required. Underline key words such as discuss, compare, consider, how would… Those words will tell you what to do for your assignment.

In particular, pay special attention to any format requirements mentioned in the assignment. Many times, the solution is required as a spreadsheet or a word-processed document and tutors may refuse to award marks if the formatting requirements are not followed.

The first thing before doing the assignment is to understand the assignment completely. If anything in the assignment is unclear, you may ask your peers and tutors.

Brainstorm and jot down your original ideas on paper or in your computer.

Look back at the question again to check that you are answering it correctly.

Be to the point. For example, in a descriptive question, there is no need for long introductions or a verbose answer. Don’t just write about the subject, relate your answers to the given points in the assignments and give your own insight/thoughts on it. Make simple sentences, this will reduce language and grammar mistakes.

Make sure that you address all requirements of the assignment. Overlooking small points can lead to loss of marks. Remember, while answering any assignment, you have to show your own understanding about the subject matter.

Think and answer logically. Organize your ideas. Your assignments should be clear, well sequenced and very well constructed.

To prepare your assignment you are encouraged to consult books, journals and the Internet but remember to provide proper references and citations so that you are not penalized.

It influences the grader how well things are organized at first view. Thus make paragraphs and use headings. This will also help you to check that you have answered all the questions.

Do not copy word for word from any source. You should use your own words as far as possible.

If you use an idea from a book or from the internet, written in your own words you should provide the name of the author and the year. At the end of your assignment you must give full details.

If you use the words out of a book, you need to give the author, year and page. The citation and referencing should be done properly so that you are not penalized.

Working with others and sharing ideas is always a valuable activity and is recommended for assignments. However, all material you submit MUST be your own unique and original work.

Copying from others or allowing them to copy from you are both classified as cheating and will be awarded zero marks. The University may award further penalties in certain cases.

Deadlines for submission must be strictly adhered to. Late assignments are not accepted since the University already makes an allowance for infrastructure problems such as power loss etc.

Assignment File

Using MS Word For Completing VU Assignments

Microsoft Word is an essential tool for preparing and submitting assignments for Virtual University courses. Some key features of MS Word that can prove useful are:

  • Templates – MS Word offers templates that enable quick and easy formatting of assignments according to the required guidelines. Students can use templates like “Report Writing” or “APA” to start their assignments in the right format instead of applying the settings manually. Some templates apply standardized formatting, while others have sample content to guide content creation.
  • Style Presets – Virtual University often has specifications for styling elements like headings, subheadings, captions, and body text. By creating and applying custom styles, students can ensure conformance to the format while writing. This also brings consistency in formatting across the assignment paper.
  • Protection – Students can use the Protect feature in the Review tab to lock down finalized assignments and avoid inadvertent changes before submission. This preserves the formatting too.

Using User Inline For Completing Assignments

Some assignments can only be completed through User Inline. User Inline is a writing software like MS Word, but it is designed specifically for creating assignments. It uses .DOCS format. For math assignments, User Inline has special math symbols available, whereas MS Word requires the MathType software to be used for creating math assignments.”

Certain Virtual University assignments can only be submitted through the User Inline platform, not through other word processors. User Inline serves as a dedicated writing software for composing VU assignments, much like Microsoft Word in features and functionality.

However, User Inline is specialized only for assignments. It uses a proprietary .DOCS document format. For assignments containing mathematical equations and symbols, User Inline has built-in tools and math symbols. So students don’t need to access additional software just for math representations – unlike MS Word which requires MathType.

So in summary – User Inline is a specialized virtual writing software made by VU to facilitate assignment creation in its standardized format. Certain assignments also mandate the use of Inline for compliance. It makes assignment writing more seamless, especially those containing mathematical content.

How to Use MathType Software for Math Assignments?

MathType Software

Here are some tips on using MathType software for math assignments:

1. Install MathType plugin in MS Word

Go to the MathType website and download the latest version of the software. Follow installation instructions to integrate the Mathtype tools into MS Word for easy access.

Or click the button below to download MathType software for windows. (30 Days Trial Version)

2. Enable MathType tab in Word

Once installed, you will find a new “MathType” tab in MS Word toolbar. Click to enable it whenever you need to insert math equations. Keep it disabled when regular typing.

3. Insert equations using Equation Editor

In the Word document, place the cursor where you want the math equation. Open “Equation Editor” from the MathType tab and type the equation using predefined math symbols and templates.

4. Customize equation appearance

Use features like font style, size to customize the look of equations. Align, indent or number equations using MathType tools based on assignment requirements.

5. Insert common expressions as symbols

For frequent math symbols, use “Symbol Palette” to standard expressions like alpha, beta, deltas etc. by a single click rather than retyping.

6. Check for accuracy

Review inserted equations closely for any error before finalizing the assignment. Confirm symbols, sub/superscripts, and templates reflect the intended math expression.

Using MathType’s rich features for math composition, review, and customization assists with accurately authoring and presenting math-based assignments as per guidelines. The tools make writing equations much easier.

How to Submit VU assignments after completing?

  • Log in to your VULMS student account at vu-lms.pk
  • Click on the “assignment” for which you need to submit the assignment. This will open the submission section.
  • If required, use the plagiarism checking tool and make amendments based on the report. Plagiarism check is compulsory before final submission for most assignments.
  • Click the “Upload” button to select your completed assignment file from your device/computer file system. Common file formats accepted are .docs, .pdf.
  • Click Submit to upload your assignment to VU servers. Ensure the file size aligns to specified limits.
  • The portal will display a real-time confirmation message upon successful submission. Your assignment now gets tagged under the course for instructor access and grading.
  • You can now view assignment submission status and grades in your Roll Call portal or access directly from Inline as well.
(In case, you have written your assignment through “User Inline”. Click the “Save” Button to submit your assignment.)

Following these steps correctly ensures your hard work translating into properly submitted assignments to Virtual University for due evaluation within deadlines.

Getting started on an assignment or homework can often times be the hardest step. Putting off the assignment can make the problem worse, reducing the time you have to complete the task and increasing stress. By learning how to get started and overcome the urge to procrastinate, you can get your assignments done on schedule and with less stress, opening up more free time.

Restructuring Your Assignment

Man with headphones on working on his assignment.

  • For example, you might research areas of a report that you find most interesting before moving on to other areas.
  • If your math assignment has different types of questions, try doing those that you enjoy the most before moving on to the others.
  • You might also try tackling smaller or easier tasks first so you can cross a few items off your list. Seeing that you've already made progress may help you feel motivated to continue.

Step 2 Start working for five minutes.

  • Promise yourself that you will meet your goal of working for five minutes on the assignment.
  • Once you get started, you may find that you don't want to stop working. Otherwise, you can take a break and come back to the assignment, knowing you're at least five minutes closer to finishing than you were before.

Step 3 Break up your time.

  • Try to set reasonable periods of time that you know you can meet. For example, you might set aside two hours on a Friday to dedicate to your assignment. If you don't have that much time all at once, try to carve out a few 20- or 30-minute blocks.
  • You may or may not wish to continue working after your time limit has gone by.
  • Have a realistic understanding of how fast you can write and plan your schedule accordingly.

Step 4 Get started.

  • It can help to read the assignment as soon as you get it and then ask any questions you might have.
  • If you're not sure if you understand the assignment, try rewriting it in your own words or explaining it to someone else. If you find you can't or have a lot of questions, you may need more information.
  • You should have an overview of the assignment, understand the main task, and understand the technical and stylistic requirements.
  • Look for important words in the instructions to understand the assignment. These words might include define, explain, compare, relate, or prove.
  • Keep your audience in mind and write a paper that would best deliver information to them.

Step 6 Make sure your goals are manageable.

  • Goals that are too big or not well defined can be difficult to start working towards.
  • Smaller and well defined goals can seem easier to achieve than larger ones.
  • For example, you could break a research paper down into several smaller tasks: 1) do preliminary research, 2) write an outline, 3) draft an introduction, 4) draft body paragraphs, 5) write conclusion, 6) revise. Each of these is much more do-able on its own.

Changing Your Focus

Step 1 Change your mood.

  • You might want to go for a quick walk after working for a set amount of time.
  • Try reading a website or book that you enjoy for a few minutes after working.
  • Alternatively, try a quick burst of exercise before setting to work. Exercise releases feel-good chemicals called endorphins and can also help boost your memory. [8] X Research source

Step 2 Stay positive.

  • Instead of dreading your work, focus on how good it will feel to make progress. You won't have it hanging over your head. You can actually enjoy the weekend instead of feeling guilty.
  • Keeping your eye on long-term rewards can help you stay motivated to finish your assignment.

Step 3 Avoid procrastination while working.

  • Avoid moving your workspace constantly.
  • Don't get lost on tangential research.
  • Don't take constant breaks to get a snack.

Step 4 Create some consequences for procrastination.

  • For every hour you waste procrastinating, you can limit how much television you watch that night.
  • If you waste too much time procrastinating, you might deny yourself a favorite snack later on.

Step 5 Don't worry about perfection.

How to Make Assignments through AI on Laptop

How to Do Your Assignments Using AI VU Legends

Artificial intelligence (AI) has come a long way in recent years. One of the most exciting applications of AI is in education, specifically for automating tedious tasks like grading assignments. AI can analyze student work, provide feedback, and even suggest grades.

This allows teachers to focus less on rote tasks and more on providing meaningful instruction. In this article, we’ll explore how teachers and students can use AI to streamline the assignment process.

Table of Contents

Outline the Assignment

The first step is to provide clear instructions to students on what the assignment entails.

  • Define the agenda and goals of the assignment. What concepts, skills, or knowledge should students demonstrate?
  • Length of word count
  • Formatting specifications
  • Research or sources required
  • Rubric detailing grading criteria
  • Provide examples of exemplary past assignments if available. This gives students a target to aim for.
  • Set firm deadlines for completion and submission.

Providing clear expectations upfront ensures students understand what is required of them. It also allows the AI to properly analyze the work.

Have Students Submit Assignments Digitally

Once assignments are distributed, students should submit their completed work through digital channels. This allows for seamless transfer to AI platforms. Options include:

Compare assignment quality, completion rates, grades and student surveys before and after implementation. Students tend to be more engaged and receptive to AI feedback.

Can students game or cheat the AI grading system?

They can try! The latest AI is quite resilient against attempts to game or fool the algorithms. Regardless, teachers should be alert for any signs of manipulation or deception.

Should assignment grades come directly from the AI?

Grades and scores generated by the AI should always be considered advisory. Teachers know the curriculum and students best and must review all grades for appropriateness before finalizing.

How should plagiarism incidents be handled?

Teachers should review all plagiarism flags, determine the severity, educate the student on proper citation practices, and enforce consequences in a nurturing manner per school policies.

How to Make Assignment

Instructions for making assignment.

How to Make Assignment

Example of Assignment

  • Manage your study time well by using a planner or diary to pace your activities appropriately. Start your course assignments early. Do not wait until the last moment. You will need time to gather relevant information, discuss and interact with your course mates and look for additional resources to complete the assignments.
  • Read through the assignment carefully and find out exactly what is required. Underline key words such as discuss, compare, consider, how would… Those words will tell you what to do for your assignment.
  • In particular, pay special attention to any format requirements mentioned in the assignment. Many times, the solution is required as a spreadsheet or a word-processed document and tutors may refuse to award marks if the formatting requirements are not followed.
  • The first thing before doing the assignment is to understand the assignment completely. If anything in the assignment is unclear, you may ask your peers and tutors.
  • Brainstorm and jot down your original ideas on paper or in your computer.
  • Look back at the question again to check that you are answering it correctly.
  • Be to the point. For example, in a descriptive question, there is no need for long introductions or a verbose answer. Don’t just write about the subject, relate your answers to the given points in the assignments and give your own insight/thoughts on it. Make simple sentences, this will reduce language and grammar mistakes.
  • Make sure that you address all requirements of the assignment. Overlooking small points can lead to loss of marks. Remember, while answering any assignment, you have to show your own understanding about the subject matter.
  • Think and answer logically. Organize your ideas. Your assignments should be clear, well sequenced and very well constructed.
  • To prepare your assignment you are encouraged to consult books, journals and the Internet but remember to provide proper references and citations so that you are not penalized.
  • It influences the grader how well things are organized at first view. Thus make paragraphs and use headings. This will also help you to check that you have answered all the questions.
  • Do not copy word for word from any source. You should use your own words as far as possible.
  • If you use an idea from a book or from the internet, written in your own words you should provide the name of the author and the year. At the end of your assignment you must give full details.
  • If you use the words out of a book, you need to give the author, year and page. The citation and referencing should be done properly so that you are not penalized.
  • In case you are not familiar with citations and references, you are encouraged to check the APA Citation Style.
  • Working with others and sharing ideas is always a valuable activity and is recommended for assignments. However, all material you submit MUST be your own unique and original work.
  • Copying from others or allowing them to copy from you are both classified as cheating and will be awarded zero marks. The University may award further penalties in certain cases.
  • Deadlines for submission must be strictly adhered to. Late assignments are not accepted since the University already makes an allowance for infrastructure problems such as power loss etc

Keon Ellis’ defensive disruption has taken him from undrafted afterthought to Kings starter

SACRAMENTO, CA - MARCH 25: Keon Ellis #23 of the Sacramento Kings looks on during the game on March 25, 2024 at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California. SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Seventeen days ago, when Memphis Grizzlies guard Desmond Bane chopped down on Kevin Huerter ’s arm, tearing Huerter’s labrum and effectively ending his season, Sacramento Kings coach Mike Brown promoted Keon Ellis to the starting lineup and later announced a plan to keep Ellis in that spot for the remainder of the season.

Eleven days later, when Luka Dončić toppled over after a drive and fell onto Malik Monk ’s right knee, spraining his MCL , the Kings were in sudden need of an extra guard to close games. Ellis delivered the first opportunity, finding himself on the floor in the consequential moments of a massive game against the Dallas Mavericks .

It’s a rapid ascent that might catch the casual observer by surprise. Ellis went undrafted out of Alabama in 2022 and spent his first 20 professional months on a two-way contract before the Kings elevated him to the roster in February. Ellis is still relatively unknown but is quickly becoming a large part of the Kings’ present picture — averaging 28.5 minutes since March 18 for a potential playoff team — while making a case to become a core piece of their future.

This doesn’t come as a shock to Ellis. It’s consistent with his pre- NBA basketball path, Ellis explained to The Athletic this week. He didn’t get high-profile Division I interest out of high school, opting for the juco route. He spent two seasons at Florida SouthWestern, exploding his second year to earn an offer from Alabama.

“I go to Alabama, and it starts back over,” Ellis said. “First year, I had to feel things out, figure out what I had to do to get on the court. That’s where I found the defensive side of myself.”

Ellis, a patient worker, polished his game, discovered his role and earned a spot on the SEC All-Defensive Team as a senior while also averaging an efficient 12.1 points pre game, generating some buzz on the prospect radar.

Ellis was surprised when his name wasn’t called on draft night. He’d registered interest in the lead-up. But, at 22 without an exploding offensive profile, nobody dialed him up in the second round. The Kings called Ellis in the minutes after the draft and offered him a two-way contract. After a conversation with his agent, he agreed, believing there was an eventual path to his desired career.

Ellis popped in the Kings’ internal analytics draft model. He was a high-deflection, high-steal, high-rebound prospect from the guard position. In a limited role, he made 37 percent of his college 3s and 83 percent of his free throws. The numbers nudged the team’s scouts and staffers to get eyes on him. They loved the film and the background. They identified him as a priority two-way and got it done quickly.

Ellis performed well in his first NBA Summer League, impressed himself in training camp and then put up a productive first professional season for the G League’s Stockton Kings. He averaged 16.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 33 games. He continued to light up the numbers model. The front office loved him. Coaches increasingly raved about all the subtle ways he impacted games. His teammates liked when he was on the court. He’d won over every level of the organization.

The Kings still didn’t have a full-time roster spot for him to open this season, but his elevation out of the two-way contract felt inevitable, especially once Brown started playing Ellis ahead of Davion Mitchell , a 2021 lottery pick, when rotation opportunities appeared early in the season.

Ellis first felt he belonged when he had 10 points in mop-up duty as a rookie. He felt the speed, made some plays and received good feedback. But his breakthrough performance came in early November.

The Kings were in Houston for two games. De’Aaron Fox missed both. The Kings were blown out in the first game and getting blown out in the second, so a frustrated Brown went to Ellis to mix things up. Ellis responded with four 3s, a steal and 15 points in 14 minutes.

“That was the start of it all,” Ellis said. “When I had that performance, it was kind of like, you know, just gave me more confidence I’d be able to do it more often.”

Brown agreed. He rewarded Ellis with several more rotation opportunities over the ensuing weeks, especially when he felt it necessary to get more disruption and defensive length on the perimeter. That, at this stage of Ellis’ career, is his appeal. Brown is trying to reform the Kings’ defensive identity and, in the 6-foot-6 Ellis, he feels he’s found a developing cog.

Brown and other members of his coaching staff use two words to describe Ellis’ defense: hands  and instincts . Since he became a starter after the Huerter injury, his 24 deflections are the eighth most in the NBA. He averaged nearly two steals per game in March. He’s a menace off the ball, jumping passing lanes, while also handling some of the tougher one-on-one assignments.

Here are two examples of his hawking ability and his hands. Ellis, in both instances, is guarding a man in the far corner but sniffs out a cutter and sneaks in from behind to whack away a steal. Track him on both plays starting in the top right corner.

Ellis had a steal in the Mavericks game the other night that looked like a free safety reading a route behind him and adjusting in time to trick the quarterback and leap for the pass with his plus-wing span.

“I know exactly the one you’re talking about,” Ellis said.

This one. The second replay is in slow motion. He is guarding Tim Hardaway Jr. , who is screening Keegan Murray to free up Dončić for a back cut. Daniel Gafford throws the pass. Ellis flips his hips, spins and skies for the interception.

That is an example of Ellis’ rare instincts for a young player.

“We do top-lock off out of the corner,” Ellis explained. “I’m knowing that if the center has the ball and Domas (Sabonis) is up there, we have nobody to protect the rim. So if he backdoors, I’m giving a little bit more protection. I know they want to get it to Luka. Sure enough he threw it and I read it right.”

There’s a growing internal belief within the Kings that Ellis’ defense is real. He’s only 178 pounds, so it might be tougher for him to hang with some of the league’s bigger scoring wings on a nightly basis, but he’s wiry-strong and holds his own. The Kings have the league’s 12th-best defensive rating since the All-Star break (112.1) and the fifth-best in the last 10 games (108.4), coinciding with Ellis’ increased run.

But questions remain on the other end. Huerter is a movement shooter whose gravity pulls defenders. Monk is a lightning scorer who created out of the pick-and-roll, exploded to the rim and shot it off the dribble from deep. Ellis can’t replace either.

But he isn’t a nothing on that end either. Ellis has a sideways spin on his jumper, but he has always made it. After hitting 43.6 percent of his 3s in the G League last season, he is 50 of 127 this season for the Kings (39.4 percent). Defenses are leaving him. He is cashing those opportunities at a respectable rate.

“He for sure better shoot every catch-and-shoot shot that he’s open,” Brown said. “Or he’s going to hear it from me.”

In recent games, Ellis has shown a bit more than that. The Kings were up 104-101 on a key possession late in Orlando on March 23. Harrison Barnes was trapped after a drive that went nowhere. He kicked it out to Ellis. Late in the shot clock, Ellis generated an off-the-dribble stepback jumper and nailed it.

“As we’re playing games, I’m kind of finding out (about his offensive upside),” Brown said. “I mean, he took a floater that he looked pretty comfortable. And if he looks comfortable with it and he’s going to be aggressive, I’m going to let him shoot it. He shot a pull-up that looked pretty comfortable … I’m going to let him shoot it.”

Here’s that big late-game pull-up that helped the Kings escape Orlando with a win.

Monk is an unrestricted free agent this summer who may have played himself out of Sacramento’s price range. Huerter is under contract for two more seasons at $34.7 million total, a fair annual number considering production. Barnes is owed $37 million the next two seasons. Fox could ask for a mega contract extension this summer. Sabonis is already on a huge max. Murray will eventually be extension-eligible.

Playoff teams get pricey quickly in the NBA, which makes bargain production a necessity to sustainably fill out a rotation. That makes Ellis — and exactly what he can become — an important piece to Sacramento’s roster build. Ellis is under contract for only $2.1 million next season, and the Kings have a non-guaranteed $2.3 million team option the following season.

If Ellis can prove to be worthy of a top-seven rotational role down the stretch, that provides an extra level of flexibility as Sacramento reconstructs for the future.

“I come in. I know I’m not going to be the De’Aaron Fox of the team,” Ellis said. “I’m in because I play defense. I’m going to continue to go in and play defense. With guys like Domas, Fox, Keegan, whoever, they’re going to gain much of the attention. I’ll fall into wide open opportunities for catch-and-shoot. Teams will go under. I can accept what I’m out there for. I need to make sure I’m on my assignment on the defensive end.”

Examples of Effective Sequencing

Some date-effective objects, such as assignments, create a physical record for each update on one day. Physical records with the same effective start date have effective sequence numbers. This topic provides examples of effective sequencing in assignment histories.

Changing the Assignment Working Hours

You create an assignment for a worker. Later the same day, you update the assignment working hours. This change isn't a correction, but an update. The assignment history is as shown in this table.

Changing the Assignment Manager

You update a worker's assignment twice on 14 November, 2022. You change the:

Assignment manager from S. Taylor to J. Miles.

Assignment manager from J. Miles to M. Scott and the grade from C14 to C15.

Effective sequencing doesn't apply to assignment manager and work measures. Because effective sequencing applies to grades but not assignment managers, the assignment history is as shown in this table after you make both updates.

Changes to assignment managers and work measures are corrections rather than updates. Only the last change made on any day remains in the object history. The change of manager to M. Scott overwrites the first change from S. Taylor to J. Miles.
