All programs prepare students for professional careers in the public, private, or governmental sector. They provide the education necessary to become a Certified Public Accountant or to attain other professional certifications.

Accounting - MS

This degree is designed for students with an undergraduate degree in accounting. It promotes a deeper understanding of complex accounting issues and their relevance to support better business decisions.

Taxation – MS

This specialized degree is designed for students with an undergraduate degree in accounting who wish to focus in taxation. Students gain skills in identifying, analyzing and solving complex tax issues to add value for various entities.

Professional Accounting – MPA

MPA is designed for students with an undergraduate degree in a discipline other than accounting who wish to pursue a professional accounting career. This degree allows one to attain the necessary qualifications needed for professional certification.

About Our Business Administration MBA Degree

Economic Data Analytics - M.S.

This program teaches students to think critically and to solve problems. These skills are highly valued in the workplace. The focus is on how to work with data important in business and government decisions, and logically explain insights gained from analyses.

Quantitative Finance - M.S.

Prepares students to meet the demand for financial professionals equipped to implement up-to-date analytical techniques in support of financial decision making. The Sam Mahrouq Financial Markets Lab provides state-of-the-art Bloomberg terminals that students use to make investment decisions.

Health Care Administration - M.S.

This program prepares students for leadership administrative roles for the wide variety of organizations in the health care industry. The cohort at UTA Fort Worth begins in fall and the UTA Dallas cohort begins in spring.

Information Systems And Operations Management - M.S.

Human Resource Management - M.S.

Marketing Research - M.S.

Bachelor of business administration, bba degree requirements.

A grade point average of at least 2.00 is required on all work undertaken at the University for which a grade or symbol other than  Q, W, X,  or  CR  is recorded. In addition, a grade point average of at least 2.00 in business courses is required. For more information about grade requirements and restrictions on repetition of courses, please see  Academic Policies and Procedures .

A candidate for the BBA degree must be enrolled in the McCombs School in the semester or summer session in which the degree is awarded.

Each student is expected to complete the courses required for his or her major and to meet the curriculum requirements described in items 4 through 7 below in the year specified.

During their freshman and sophomore years, students are expected to complete the University’s  Core Curriculum  requirements.

Students are expected to complete the following BBA degree requirements during the freshman year:

Mathematics 408Q  (may fulfill the quantitative reasoning flag); 408R  will also be accepted when taken in residence at The University of Texas at Austin only. For the CSB major and the Science and Technology Management major, 408C  (may fulfill the quantitative reasoning flag) and 408D  are required.  This coursework may also be used to fulfill the mathematics requirement of the core curriculum.  Any successfully completed two-course calculus sequence will also be accepted.

Economics 304K  and 304L . Economics 304K  may also be used to fulfill the social and behavioral sciences requirement of the Core Curriculum.

Management Information Systems 301 ,  a business core course.

Three semester hours of coursework in anthropology, psychology, educational psychology, or sociology, chosen from approved courses; courses dealing primarily with statistics or data processing may not be used to fulfill this requirement. Social Science 302C , 302D , 302E , 302F  (for Plan II dual majors only), are also accepted.

Business Administration 101H , 101S , or 101T ; and Management 101H , 101S , or 101T . Entering freshmen take Business Administration 101S  and Management 101S , entering transfer students take  Business Administration 101T  and  Management 101T , and entering business honors students take  Business Administration 101H  and  Management 101H . Because each course is offered only once a year, failure to take the course in the proper semester will prevent the student from declaring a major and progressing toward the degree.

In addition to the courses above, students must complete the following business core courses by the end of their sophomore year:

Accounting 311 and 312  (both courses may fulfill the quantitative reasoning flag)

Statistics 301   (may fulfill the quantitative reasoning flag)

Business Administration 324  or Communication 324M (may fulfill the writing flag)

Operations Management 235 or 334M

Decision Science 235

Statistics 235

Fifteen semester hours beyond the first two years are specified as follows:

Business core courses:

Legal Environment of Business 323  (may fulfill the ethics flag)

Finance 357

Marketing 337 or Marketing 337N

Management 336  (may fulfill the ethics flag) 

A professional, business-related experiential learning course chosen from the following: Accounting 366P , Business Administration 353 , 653 , 366P , Finance 366P , Management 347P , 366P , 367P , 369P , Management Information Systems 366P , Marketing 366P , Operations Management 366P ; only one of the following courses may be counted toward the degree: Business Administration 353 and Business Administration 653 .

The following requirements apply in addition to those in items 4 through 7 above:

Additional coursework to earn a total of at least six semester hours at the upper-division level outside the McCombs School of Business. Students should consult the requirements of their major department for information about additional coursework to be taken outside the school.

Completion of the requirements of one of the BBA majors listed in the Undergraduate Catalog. At least 24 semester hours in business must be completed in residence on the letter-grade basis at the University, of which at least 12 semester hours must be in upper-division coursework in the student's major. For additional in residence requirements, see the University's minimum  General Requirements  for graduation given in The University section. Please also see footnote below.

Proficiency in a foreign language equivalent to one year competency is required. This requirement may be fulfilled either by completion of the two high school units in a single foreign language that are required for admission to the University as a freshman or by the demonstration of proficiency at the second-semester level. Credit earned at the college level to achieve the proficiency may be taken on the pass/fail basis, and the credit may count towards the degree. Due to the variety in the way language classes are taught at the University, students should consult their academic advisor.

University Catalog

Information systems and operations management - undergraduate programs.

The Department of Information Systems and Operations Management offers the BBA in Information Systems, the BBA in Operations and Supply Chain Management, the BS in Business Analytics, the BS in Information Systems, and minors in Business Analytics and Information Systems.  Students develop generalized business knowledge as well as specialized skills for addressing technical and operations needs of an organization.   Students are prepared for a variety of jobs including business analyst, programmer/developer, systems designer, supply chain management, and operations process and control.

Students must meet all lower division requirements before enrolling in upper division courses. Specified prerequisites are designated for certain courses.

Double Major

A Double Major option for the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Information Systems is available. Information Systems undergraduates who pursue the following Double Major program will not have the option of participating in the Fast Track Program in Business.

Completion of the Double Major is attained by including all of the following courses in the BBA Information Systems plan and completing with grades of C or better in each of the double major courses listed below:

BBA IN INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND ACCOUNTING

  • Requirements for a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems

The student studying information systems is encouraged to take a computer science course as an outside elective. Required information systems electives and advanced business electives should be selected with the advice of an academic advisor.

  • Requirements for a Bachelor of Business Administration in Operations and Supply Chain Management

Recommended Business Electives for Operations and Supply Chain Management Majors

The College of Business:

  • Requires half of the course work for a minor in business be completed in residence at UT Arlington. For an 18-hour minor requirement, this would require a minimum of 9 hours of business course work at UT Arlington.
  • Requires a grade of C or better in all minor requirement courses, unless a different grade is designated below.
  • Will not use vocational and technical courses (including WECM courses) toward any business minor.

Business Analytics

Information systems.

Mandatory Prerequisites: Prerequisites MUST be met before enrollment in the course. A student should consider this when selecting courses to satisfy the minor requirement and when registering. For a complete list of prerequisites see the Undergraduate Catalog or the Business Undergraduate Advising Office.

Must earn a B or better in BSTAT 3321 (or equivalent) and INSY 3300.

Certificate in Business Analytics

The undergraduate Certificate in Business Analytics is designed to introduce data science and analytics knowledge and skills to College of Business majors.  The certificate requires a total of twelve semester credit hours of course work, which can be completed in conjunction with an existing COB undergraduate degree.

Admission Requirements

Undergraduate students in good standing in the College of Business with a B in both BSTAT 3321 and INSY 3300.

Undergraduate Certificate Requirements

To receive the certificate, all courses must be completed at UT Arlington with at least a grade of C in each.

Must earn a B in INSY 3300.

The Human Resource Management track offers students the opportunity to attain expertise in hiring, training, and compensating a workforce. This program fully aligns with the Society for Human Resource Management’s (SHRM) HR Curriculum Guidelines. Students can declare this track after being admitted to the program and meeting with an academic advisor.

Distinguished Scholarship

UTSA offers an automatic merit-based scholarship to incoming new freshman and transfer students who display exceptional scholastic achievement in high school by the priority deadline. Non-resident and international students awarded a Distinguished Scholarship for a minimum of $1,000 for the academic year will be granted a waiver for non-resident tuition if scholarship eligibility is maintained. This means out-of-state and international students could pay in-state tuition! For fall admitted freshmen, this scholarship is valued up to $20,000 for up to four years. For fall or spring admitted transfer students, this scholarship is valued up to $6,000 for up to two years. Renewal eligibility must be maintained and funding must be available.
