3D-SHAPES WORKSHEETS
We have learnt everything about flat shapes , which are also called as 2- D shapes.
https://www.mathfunworksheets.com/2d-shapes/
Here, we will concentrate on 3-D shapes or solids . They are solid objects that can be measured in three directions.
In these 3-D shapes worksheets, we will learn all the 3- dimensional shapes and their properties. Consider representing these shapes on three axis- x, y and z axis. Thus the measurable attributes on three axis are length, width and height (depth or thickness). A few three dimensional shapes are shown below.
All 3- D shapes have faces, edges and vertices.
The flat surfaces of the cube are called faces . A cube has 6 faces.
The line segment where two faces meet are edges . A cube has 12 edges.
Vertex is where three edges meet. A cube has 8 vertices.
We have a number of 3- D objects around us. Almost all the things we handle are solids. Your tea cup, mobile, laptop are all 3- D objects.
Now that your familiar with 3- D shapes, download worksheets for practice. All are free to use and are easily accessible.

Faces, Edges, and Vertices | 3D Shapes Worksheets
Faces, edges, and vertices worksheets are a must-have for your grade 1 through grade 5 kids to enhance vocabulary needed to describe and label different 3D shapes. Children require ample examples and adequate exercises to remember the attributes of each 3D figure. Begin with the printable properties of solid shapes chart, proceed to recognizing and counting the faces, edges, and vertices of each shape, expand horizons while applying the attributes to real-life objects, add a bonus with comparing attributes of different solid figures and many more pdf worksheets. Our free worksheets are a compulsive print.
Properties of 3D Shapes Chart
Encourage kids to use apt terms like edges, vertices, curved, and flat faces to describe solids with this printable properties of solid figures chart that vividly shows the count of each attribute in a cube, sphere, cone, and other 3D shapes.
- Download the Chart
Complete the 3D Shapes Properties Table
Give momentum to your practice with this complete the 3D shapes attributes table pdf. Kids in 1st grade and 2nd grade observe each solid, count the number of faces, edges, and vertices in each 3-dimensional shape and complete the information in the table.
- Grab the Worksheet
Write the number of Faces, Edges, and Vertices
Works great in recollecting the distinct features of each solid shape. Instruct kids to identify and label the shape as they work their way through this worksheet, and write the number of faces, edges, and vertices in each.
Faces, Edges, and Vertices in Real-Life Objects
Can your grade 2 and grade 3 kids identify the 3D figure that each of these real-life objects represents? Count the faces, edges, and vertices in the real-life objects featured in this printable worksheet.
Identify the 3D Shape from its Properties
Read the attribute description and identify the 3-dimensional shape that matches it in the first part of the pdf. In the latter part circle the real-life object that possesses the specified attributes.
How Many Faces, Edges, and Vertices?
How many faces/edges/vertices does this figure have? Identify the shape, recall from memory the attributes of each 3D figure and choose the option that correctly states the count to describe the object.
Comparing Attributes of 3D Shapes
Now that 3rd grade and 4th grade kids are sure of the number of faces, edges, and vertices of the solid shapes, comparing solid figures based on their attributes should not be a tough row to hoe.

Teach children some basic geometry with these free 3D shape worksheets!
Today I’m sharing two worksheets to help kids explore 3D shapes. Let’s dive in!
3D Shape Worksheets
The first worksheet asks kids to count faces, edges, and vertices on each shape.
First, let’s look at some definitions.
face – any of the flat surfaces of a solid object
edge – a line segment where two faces meet
vertex – a point where two or more lines meet
I strongly recommend having 3D shape manipulatives so your students can study them as they work. If you buy two of this set , you should have enough for 20 students. If you’re working with an individual student, you could buy the foam shapes that we used .
Let’s take a rectangular prism.
You can see that it has 6 faces. Each is shaped like a rectangle. It also has 12 edges and 8 vertices.
We examined each shape . I helped my Six count the faces, edges, and vertices.
He recorded them on the worksheet.
For the second worksheet, we examined whether the shapes could roll, stack or slide.
He colored the happy or sad face after he experimented with each figure.
Some were a little tricky, so he added some notes on his worksheet. For example, the bottom of the cone stacks, but not the top. The same is true of the pyramid.
We hope you enjoy this fun freebie!

Hi, I am big fan of your activities and printable. Thanks for your efforts and sharing ! I got a question. All the shapes can slide right (in roll, stack , slide) ? Thanks !
April 10, 2017 at 5:07 am
Hello! Shapes can slide if they can move on their base without turning or rolling. So all shapes can slide EXCEPT the sphere.

I really appreciate and trust your free printables – thank you so much! I am a great grandmother looking after (guardian to) her 5 year old great grandson. He has been diagnosed with O.D.D. and Severe Anxiety so has a hard time in Kindergarten. Printing your resources has helped me to explain and guide him through the items he has problems understanding in the school setting when being inundated with too many sensory situations that cause him to shut down. I am hoping with a loving and quiet environment at home that he will, with the additional knowledge you and I are providing him, start to make larger strides in his school work and not feel the pressure so much. I have many years to look forward to getting your assistance for this bright, loving boy. Thanks again

To assemble this set of foldable 3D shapes:
I highly recommend printing the nets on stock paper rather than regular paper. I have tried it both ways, and regular paper is just too flimsy.
After printing, simply cut out the 3d shape nets on the solid lines.
If you’ve printed on white card stock as I have, take some time to get creative and color or decorate the shapes before assembling them! This could make a great math art project !
If your students are older, have them label the different parts of the shape (face, edge, base) before assembling to use as a reference throughout their study of shapes! 🙂
This will help them see and learn math vocabulary .
Then, carefully fold each tab so that it can be used to glue the shape together, and fold each side of the shape.
Finally, glue each side together . I suggest adding a few dabs of glue to each tab and then hold it in place for a few seconds before gluing the next tab. This will help make sure it stays together.
You can also use tape if that’s easier for you (or you don’t have glue).
Once all the shapes are assembled, you can use them however you like, depending on the age of your kids!
