There is an out-of-game and an in-game sequence to get this done. After downloading the iFruit app, players must then connect their devices to their Grand Theft Auto Online Social Club account. The 'Plates' tab allows players to make custom license plates. After drawing one up for one of the coolest vehicles in the game , choose a character to deliver the plate to.

Then the in-game portion begins. Hop online and select the character that received the plate. An SMS message will confirm the customization and direct the gamer to Los Santos Customs. Once there, go to the plate section and select the new custom license plate.

If a player wants multiple plates, maybe one for their incredible vans , they will first need to equip their first license plate to a car before creating a second one.

This includes redesigning the plate's background, text, color, city, and more! With so many options available, the possibilities for creating unique and hilarious plates are endless. But how exactly do you access and use this feature? This guide will explain  how to get custom license plates in GTA Online using the new License Plate Creator app so you can hit the road in style.

How To Customize License Plates In GTA Online

According to the official Rockstar Newswire, "With this new tool, you can create up to 30 custom plates by placing orders via desktop or mobile web browsers — and then pick up and apply your plate in-game."  Alright, cool. But how do you get started? The answer -- super easy! To get your custom plate in GTA Online using the License Plate Creator app, just follow these steps:

• Go to the official Los Santos Customs License Plate Creator website . Please note that you must be signed to your Rockstar Games Social Club account before beginning.
• Assuming you have an eligible vehicle in GTA Online, you should have the option to start a "New Order."
• Create a customized license plate by entering custom text. The text can be up to 8 characters in length (A-Z, 0-9). It is encouraged that you avoid language that might be offensive.
• Choose a background for the number plate. Rockstar Games is expected to expand this library of designs and options in future updates, with GTA+ members possibly getting access to exclusive plate designs.
• Select "Next" once you've finalized your design and confirm your order by assigning the customized plate to one of your vehicles in GTA Online.
• Drop by Los Santos Customs in your chosen personal vehicle to fit your new plate in-game. Once there, you can select the "Process App Order" (free) option from the purchase menu. It's worth noting that you can customize your plates once it's on your car for free.

The License Plate Creator in GTA Online lets you send personalized plates to Los Santos Customs

The GTA Online License Plate Creator is the perfect way to put a personal stamp on your favorite rides, by applying a customized vanity plate to show off your identity. These are attached by taking your motor to Los Santos Customs, but first you have to place the order and the process isn't straightforward. When GTA Online originally launched almost a decade ago, you could use the iFruit app on your real life mobile phone to set things up, but once that got discontinued there was not alternative route in place to set up this customization. Finally, that situation has now been resolved by Rockstar, so if you want to display your nickname, a famous registration, or something else entirely on the back of your vehicle, then here's how to use the License Plate Creator in GTA Online.

How to use the License Plate Creator in GTA Online

Find out what GTA Online new cars are available to add your customized license plate to.

The first thing you need to note if you want to use the GTA Online License Plate Creator is that you have to be active in an online session before it will work, otherwise you'll get an error message telling you to enter a session before placing your order. Secondly, it isn't available through the game itself, so you'll need to visit the official Rockstar website separately via the browser on your mobile phone or computer to access it. Once you've logged into your Social Club account and completed any necessary profile linking, these are the steps to take for setting up your plate:

• Click the NEW ORDER + button on the blank license plate
• Enter your text of up to 8 alphanumeric characters – an offensive language filter is applied to this, but note that it you get an offensive word or phrase through that is later reported your account could be sanctioned
• Select one of the five available backgrounds
• You can switch to Car View with the button in the bottom right corner, then click-drag to see how the license plate looks from different angles
• When you're happy, click Next in the bottom left
• Select a recent personal vehicle from the drop-down list – make sure you click on the main body of the box as the arrow doesn't seem to respond
• Click Place Your Order in the bottom right

If everything has gone through correctly you'll be told your order is processing – should you receive an error message, make sure you're in a current online session then reload the Creator and repeat the process. I recommend sending your GTA Online License Plate to the personal vehicle you're currently using, as I had issues getting the order to deliver after switching to a different car. 

Back in the game itself, you'll shortly receive a text message from Los Santos Customs telling you to drop by with your specified vehicle to have your order fulfilled. Head to the nearest mod shop and, after applying any necessary repairs, you'll be presented with the option to Process App Order for free. Select this, and your vehicle will roll out with its shiny new GTA Online License Plate installed. Once this initial order delivery is made, you can add this plate to any of your vehicles and change its appearance by visiting Los Santos Customs.

GTA 5 Online: How to Make Custom License Plates

When iFruit App got axed from  GTA Online ‘s list of companion applications last year, GTA players could no longer customize their vehicles and apply new license plates to their cars and vehicles. But with the “Shake Up and Top Marks” week event, Rockstar Games brought back the license plate feature in the form of a new License Plate Creator . We’ll tell you everything about it in our guide below!

How to Make Custom License Plates in GTA 5 Online

The best part about the new License Plate Creator is that it’s completely free, and you don’t have to abandon your old license plates created in iFruit App. You can actually view and use them in the new application or simply create new license plates from scratch.

You can go ahead and create your first license plate in the License Plate Creator by following these steps:

• Go to the official License Plate Creator webpage.
• Sign in using your Rockstar Games Social Club credentials.
• Press “ Create New Plate ” button.
• Enter your text on the plate and select background in the left menu.
• Once that is done, press the “ Next ” button.
• Select a vehicle from the new menu.
• Confirm by pressing “ Place Order ” button.

Once this is done, you need to accept the new plate order in GTA Online . Here’s what you need to do:

• Start GTA Online using your Social Club account.
• Wait a few moments before a message arrives in your account , stating that you can pick up your order at Los Santos Customs.
• Take a vehicle that you’ve chosen before in the License Plate Creator, and drive it to the Los Santos Customs.
• Once you arrive, open the Customs Shop’s menu .
• Press “ Process Order ” button to apply a new license plate to your vehicle.

If you did everything right, your car should have the newly created license plate. In case you’re not happy with the chosen vehicle and you wish to pick another car with the same license plate, then you need to follow these steps:

• Drive any other car to the Los Santos Customs after you’ve received the message regarding your new license plate.
• Select “ Customization ” menu.
• Go to “ Plates ” tab.
• Click on the plate you’ve created in the License Plate Creator.

When that’s done, you’ll see that your new license plate has been applied to another car in a similar fashion. You can repeat this trick with any other vehicle of yours as many times as you want.

Note that just like iFruit App in the past, the License Plate Creator lets you create no more than 30 plate numbers per account . If you decide to make new plates, then you have to delete some of the old ones to make room. You can also cancel your pending orders by doing the following:

• Go to official License Plate Creator webpage.
• Go to “ Order in Progress ” section.
• You can either press “ Cancel ” to delete the order, or “ Edit ” to change it.
• Confirm by pressing “ Yes, Cancel ,” if you wish to cancel, or “ Process Order ,” if you want to continue with the edited plate.

Players can create their own custom License Plates in GTA Online , and doing so requires a few extra steps. GTA Online continues to go strong after its debut back on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Current generation ports of the game are in development to release later this November for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. One of the smaller quality-of-life improvements is the ability for players to create custom license plates for their vehicles. Similar to how players can change the look of their GTA Online cars and avatars , license plates allow for an extra layer of customization.

It's important to mention that players will need either an iOS and Android device in order to access the Apple Store or Google Play Store. Players are not able to create a custom License Plate natively within the game. Head to these storefronts and search for "iFruit," the GTA Online  companion app. The logo itself is a parody of the Apple logo and is labeled "Grand Fruit Auto". After that, there are only a few steps left to get a custom license plate in-game.

How To Create Custom License Plates in GTA Online

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to create a Custom License Plate in GTA Online.

• Step 1: Download the iFruit app on iOS and Android.
• Step 2: Sign in to the app using the social club account from either their PC or console. It will need to be the same account for the plate to make an appearance.
• Step 3: Head over to the LS Customs app within the iFruit app. This is where players will be able to make their own License Plates.
• Step 4: At the bottom, players can head over to the Garage tab on the bottom-right side of the screen.
• Step 5: Create the Custom Plate.
• Step 6: Load up the game and head over to LS Customs .
• Step 7: Head to the plate section of LS Customs and select the new custom one.
• Step 8: The player now has their own custom-made plate in GTA Online.

With new players joining GTA Online every day, it makes sense why everyone wouldn't know to download an external app to make this possible. Hopefully, Rockstar Games can introduce a way to build one natively in the game.

How to use the new GTA Online License Plate Creator and what features it has

A new GTA Online license plate creator has been released today by Rockstar Games. We will show you how to use it and share what features it has. This newly released service comes just a week after being announced.

Players of GTA Online have been asking Rockstar for a new and improved license plate creator for quite some time. The iFruit mobile app was the only way to come up with your own custom plates and it became broken. It also did not work with the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S version of GTA V which many people have since switched to or started playing. Thankfully, these issues come to an end from today.

How to change your license plates?

Rockstar have launched a new webpage on their website to be used on both desktop and mobile. Simply click here to visit the new plate creator. You’ll be given the option to create up to 30 plates.

Click on the “New Order” button. Then you can type out the letters and numbers you wish to have on the plate, up to 8 characters. Then there are 5 backgrounds to pick from.

You are able to select a close up plate view and also car new car view. It displays a 3D model or a Banshee which allows you to rotate the rear of the car a bit.

Pressing next button means you can confirm you plate on any recent personal vehicles you drove. Once you’ve selected the car you want to have that plate, click place order. Note: all plates are free and do not cost any GTA$. Upon placing your order you will get this screen.

Once you go back to your plates gallery, you can choose to cancel the order if you wish to do so with a click of a button. If not, drive to Los Santos Customs in-game and pick up your ride with your new plates.

Considering you people are only catering to the online community, and I can’t change my plates in the story mode, Rockstar sucks now. They iFruit app was awesome. Not all of us care about getting online and running around shooting and killing each other every 15 seconds.

It’s not working for me, the page on rockstar social club shows up order in progress and the custom plates don’t show up on my game

Make Custom License Plates in GTA

Getting custom plates for your vehicles in Grand Theft Auto Online isn't that complicated as you may think. You have to follow these simple steps to get the thing done:

• Firstly, download the iFruit app from Apple Store/Google Play Store.
• Launch the app and login to your Social Club account. ( Note: Make sure to use your account in which you want the custom license plate to appear .)
• Now, scroll down to find the LS Customs app and click on it.
• In the app, you'll see Garage, Customize, Plates, and Home tab.
• Of course, you have to select the Plates tab to create a custom license plate. ( Note: You can also customize you in-game vehicle by going to the Customize tab. )
• In the Plates tab, you can select the color, text, and background for your license plate. ( Note: You can only use a total of eight characters to write something on a single license plate .)
• Now, save the newly created license plate and launch GTA 5 on your console or PC.
• Grab the car on which you want to put the new custom license plate, and head over to LS Customs.
• Navigate to the Plate section and select your custom license plate to equip it.

That's it; after you've equipped your license plate, you can repeat the same process to create another custom plate through the iFruit app. Now, take your vehicle out and flaunt your customized license plate in front of other players.

After the shutdown and delisting of the IFruit App by Rockstar Games on December 12th 2022, Rockstar promised a new method for players to create customized license plates since the LS Customs app within it would no longer be accessible. With the Boor Week event on April 13 2023, Rockstar announced that the License Plate Creator would be released the following week.

The Creator can be accessed through all desktop and mobile browsers and allows players to create up to 30 customized plates that can be ordered for pickup at any Los Santos Customs in-game. Beeker's Garage counts as a valid LS Customs branch, as do player-owned vehicle workshops, such as the Office Mechanic , LS Car Meet , and any Auto Shops .

All accounts that complete the Online Tutorial are automatically gifted a randomized custom plate that is available to all characters on that account and this will be seen as plate 1. If a player had previously used the iFruit App to create plates, then the first one they created (for free at the time) will appear as their gifted plate.

All other previous plates created through the iFruit App are automatically synced with the Plate Creator and are available across platforms.

Players may select a previously created plate to view every vehicle with the selected plate applied.

The "gifted" plate will not be able to be deleted [1] from the plate viewer screen, however all other plates, whether previously created through the iFruit App or through the Plate Creator can be. Similarly, deleting a plate won't affect any of the vehicles that were currently using it, but there won't be any tracking of what cars were using the same.

When creating a new plate, the player is prompted with a text box and several plate background types. The player will be charged for a non-standard plate background. The player may view their newly created plates in "Plate View" or in "Car View", in which the plate is applied to the rear of a Bravado Banshee as a visual example. Unlike the iFruit App, spaces within the written text are treated as valid characters. Note that the texts with odd characters are centered on the license plate as seen on the website, despite they are still being aligned to the left in-game. Additionally, certain expletives and phrases are not allowed, including in-game vehicle brands (such as Declasse or Karin ) or real-life brands (such as Nintendo or Rockstar ) [2] .

After creating the plate, player can choose to fulfill their order on one of their 10 most recent vehicles used in-game, similar to the iFruit App previously.
