What are your plans for the weekend?

hello weekend written text

Small Talk, Part 2

In Small Talk Explained , I discussed why people use small talk.

Now, we’ll look at some examples of small talk related to weekend plans.

Everyone loves weekends!

After a long week of studying or working, everyone is ready to relax or spend time with friends and family.

Weekends are when we try to do all the things we don’t have time for during the week, including just doing nothing.

Whether we plan to run errands or kick back  ( relax ) in front of the TV, we all look forward to the weekend.

For many, these pandemic years have been one long never-ending weekend. What day is it? has become a common refrain ( repeated phrase ).

Whatever your situation, I hope you have found ways to fill your time and connect with loved ones. I hope 2022 brings you health and happiness.

What are you up to (this weekend)?

Because people love weekends, asking about someone’s weekend is a very common form of small talk.

If you are talking with a friend, the same question could lead to a longer discussion.

However, sometimes, it might just be a quick conversation like this one:

A: Do you have plans for the weekend?

B: Not yet. What about you?

A: I’m planning to just take it easy. I might hang out with some friends on Sunday.

B: Cool. Well, have fun whatever you end up doing / decide to do .

A: Thanks, you too.

Because people look forward to the weekend, they often start talking about it as early as Wednesday.

It is common to ask about someone’s weekend plans with these two questions:

What are your plans for the weekend? or What are you doing this weekend?

A Note on Pronunciation

What are your sounds like Whaduhyer and What are you sounds like Whaddaya . These are very common reductions in spoken English.

Additionally, doing sounds like doin ‘ with the strong – ing  sound dropped. This sound pattern is very common with – ing words.

If you would like to hear these questions spoken by a native speaker using relaxed speech , an audio file is available at my Ko-fi shop .

This site is reader supported through affiliate purchases.

A Common Mistake to Avoid

When talking about weekend plans, it is not common to ask “What will you do this weekend?”

While everyone will understand you, will is not used to talk about future plans or intentions.

To learn more about when to use will and when to use going to and other future tenses and ways to talk about the future depending on the situation, check out the free 5-minute lesson Future Tenses In English .

More Ways to Ask about Someone’s Weekend:

  • Do you have plans for the weekend?
  • Any plans for the weekend?”
  • What are you going to do this weekend?
  • What’s going on this weekend?
  • Are you doing anything over the weekend?
  • Are you doing anything special this weekend?

What’s going on this weekend? means  What’s happening this weekend?   When we ask this, we are usually asking if there is a special event, like a concert or party. If we are not attending an event, we would answer by saying, Not much, Nothing, or Nothing much.  These responses are the same as the ones we use to respond to What greetings .

A Note about Grammar:

When talking about a future plan that was planned before the moment of speaking, using will is incorrect. Instead, we use be +  planning to  (or other present continuous verbs) or going to .

So, if you have a plan to see a movie, you might say:

  • I’m planning to go to a movie.
  • I’m going to a movie.
  • I’m going to go see a movie.
  • I’m going to see a movie.
  • I’m going to go to a movie.

If you would like to hear these spoken with relaxed speech , they are available as a downloadable audio file at my Ko-fi shop (both this and the audio file asking about weekends are combined in one product). Here is how the relaxed form might look when written:

  • I’m plannin’ to go-do-uh movie.
  • I’m goin’ to uh movie.
  • I’m gonna go see uh movie.
  • I’m gonna see uh movie.
  • I’m gonna go-do-uh movie.

What Not to Say

What if you don’t have any plans?

Sleeping dogs

What if your plan is to stay home all weekend and sleep? What if you plan to get drunk? When asked about their weekend plans, my students often say “Sleep” and “Drink alcohol.”

However, unless you are talking to a very close friend, you should avoid saying sleep and drink alcohol when someone asks you about your weekend. These are not natural answers in English. They do not give people a good impression.

Instead of telling people that you plan to sleep or drink on the weekend, you can say:

  • I’m planning to (just) take it easy.
  • (I’ll) probably just relax. (note: will is okay here because it is not a definite plan)
  • (I’ll) probably just stay home. (You can also add “I’m not sure.” before “probably” in all 3)
  • (I’ll) probably just hang out at home.
  • I might grab a drink with some friends.

How to talk about the weekend in English

Everyone loves the weekend. Weekends are a huge topic of conversation. Starting on Wednesday or Thursday, people will ask you about your weekend plans. When you return to work or school, you'll be asked how your weekend went. So it's helpful to have a nice range of phrases to use for these conversations.

The upcoming weekend

If you want to ask someone about the upcoming weekend in English, here are some common questions:

What are you doing this weekend?
Do you have anything going on this weekend?
Do you have any big plans for the weekend?
Do you have anything planned for this weekend?

If you have plans, you can tell people about them:

I'm driving to Baltimore with a friend.
I've got a date lined up.
Francine and I are taking the kids to the zoo.

If you don't have any plans, here are some good phrases:

I don't have anything planned.
I'll probably just stay at home and relax.
I just want to sleep in!

Of course, you might not want to know about other people's weekend plans. In that case, just wish them a happy weekend:

Enjoy your weekend!
Have a great weekend!
See you next week.

The weekend past

After the weekend is over, you can ask about it with these expressions:

How was your weekend?
Did you do anything fun over the weekend?
What did you get up to this weekend?
Did you have a good weekend?

Here are some answers:

It was awesome!
It was pretty laid-back.
I went out with some friends on Saturday.
I just puttered around the house.
I had a pretty uneventful weekend.

Things to do on the weekend

Here are some of the activities that people like to do on the weekend:

  • go out to eat
  • go out (to a bar or club)
  • see a movie
  • binge watch TV shows
  • chill out at home
  • catch up on sleep
  • lay around the house
  • do some housework
  • do some yard work
  • spend time with your family
  • take a road trip
  • go to church
  • get together with friends
  • have a cookout
  • have a house party
  • have a dinner party
  • have a big family meal
  • go shopping
  • catch up on work

Bonus: Which weekend do you mean?

One difficult part of conversations about the weekend is knowing which weekend you mean. Here are some example sentences to help you figure out what "last weekend", "this weekend", and "next weekend" mean, depending on when you say them:

Monday- Tuesday

Wednesday-Friday

Saturday-Sunday

34 Weekend Plans for the Best Weekend Ever

Are you feeling burnt out after a long week? We know the feeling! It sounds like it’s time to plan something fun, relaxing, or rejuvenating for the weekend.

Whether that means spending time with family members, cozying up on the couch with a book, or hopping on a plane, there’s always a way to have the best weekend ever. Here at The Good Patch , we know it’s easy to fall into the same old routine; to be fair, that can get nice and comfortable.

However, letting yourself start to follow the same habits each week runs the risk of you getting bored. Instead, follow along with us for all the ideas you need to spice up your weekends.

Before you can get started on the weekend festivities, it’s worth getting some sort of plan in order.

Don’t wait until the last minute on Friday night to figure out how you’ll spend the next few days. Take a few minutes during the week to dream up your ideal plan for the weekend.

This will help you make the most of your time and avoid any last-second scrambling. If you struggle to plan during the week's craziness, our think patches might be just what you need to get your head in the game.

Of course, things change! The schedule you set up one day may not end up working out, so try to stay flexible. If you’ve decided on some outdoor activities, keep an eye on the weather and have a few backups in case you get rained out.

Now that we’ve got the pesky planning out of the way, let’s move on to the good stuff. Here are our 34 ideas to start your weekend preparation:

Getting active can add a whole other level to your weekend off. Not only can you discover new spots around town, but a little blood pumping never hurts anybody.

Try these ideas for your next weekend romp:

1. Go for a Stroll

Walking is probably one of the easiest and most enjoyable activities you can settle on. It will get your heart pumping and is a perfect way to appreciate the fresh air. And if you haven’t had a chance to explore your town or city, now is the time. Oh, and it’s free!

2. Take a Hike

Step up your walking game by heading out into nature for a hike. Escaping your usual scenery can be a great way to reset after a long week while getting some good exercise.

3. Run Around Your City

If you’re looking for a bit harder workout, explore the city while going for a run. Experts recommend getting at least 75 minutes of higher-intensity activity each week, so this is an easy way to knock those minutes out while having fun.

4. Go for a Bike Ride

Grab your bike and ride somewhere completely new. This is a wonderful activity to do solo or with a group of friends — just make sure to wear a helmet!

5. Go Swimming

Whether you do it for sport or pleasure, swimming is always a blast. Find an indoor pool to enjoy during the colder months and venture to your nearest beach once the weather gets nice.

6. Dance the Weekend Away

Enroll in a dance class or just head out dancing with some friends for a fun weekend night. If you do go out, don’t forget our Revive patch to bounce back better than ever the next morning!

7. Join a Sports League

A common new trend, adult sports leagues are an ideal opportunity to socialize while getting a bit of exercise.

Enjoy the Outdoors

There’s nothing like some fresh air to shake the week off. Here are our favorite outdoor activities to try next weekend:

8. Birdwatch

For those looking for a new hobby, birding might be just the thing. Grab a pair of binoculars, a bird book, and step outside to see what you see.

Repurpose part of your yard for a flower bed or even start a small herb garden if you’re strapped for space.

10. Visit a State or National Park

Look up your nearest state or national park and get lost in the beauty of these protected patches of nature. With over 400 national parks in the US and even state parks, you’re sure to find something interesting.

11. Go to Your Local Park

Organize a BBQ with friends and family or just pack a blanket and book to relax in the comfort of a sunny field.

12. Watch the Sunset/Sunrise

Speaking of the sun, take advantage of being out of the office to visit a vista point for the sunset. If you’re feeling up for it, grab a caffeine patch and catch the sunrise!

13. Have a Bonfire

After getting any permits or permission you might need, hit the beach for an evening of roasting marshmallows and making delicious smores around a big bonfire.

Stay Inside

As much as we love some outdoor time, we fully endorse some time indoors. For our readers in the PNW, that rain can make it next to impossible to get outside.

14. Join or Plan a Book or Movie Club

Those of us looking for a chill but social weekend can consider joining a book or film club.

15. Visit a Museum

With so many free museums and plenty of other accessible options, it’s hard to go wrong with a museum day.

16. Have a Game Day

When the weather takes a turn for the worse, or you’re just in the mood, get some friends or family together for a day of board games and cards.

17. Go to the Library

Besides borrowing books, your local library probably offers movies for rent, magazine subscriptions, and computers to surf the way.

18. Host a Movie Marathon

Invite friends over to watch your favorite classics — don’t forget the popcorn and any other essential movie snacks.

19. Rearrange the House

Turn what can be a chore into a zen moment. Spend a moment envisioning what you want your home to look like, then put that plan into action.

20. Bake Some Sweets

Unlock your inner foodie and have a go at a hot apple pie or chocolate chip cookies. If baking isn’t your thing, there are plenty of no-bake dessert recipes out there.

Get Involved In The Community

21. donate clothes/go to a yard sale or thrift shopping.

Clear out your closet and donate anything you don’t need to an organization in your area, then treat yourself to a yard sale or trip to the thrift store! With 16 million tons of textiles wasted each year, this is a good chance to stay sustainable.

22. Volunteer

Give back to the community by volunteering at a food bank or other charity near you.

23. Clean Up Your Neighborhood

Join an organized neighborhood clean-up, or simply head out with some friends to pick up litter.

Another option is to just skip town for a few days. Why not?

24. Take a Roadtrip

Take advantage of those long weekends! Pile into the car for a road trip with good tunes, an audiobook, and plenty of snacks.

25. Leave the Country

When you’re feeling a bit more extravagant, pick one of the best weekend getaways and treat yourself to a weekend in a new country.

Let Your Creativity Flow

We believe there’s nothing better for calming the mind than tapping into our creative selves. If you’re having trouble coming up with ideas, we've got you covered.

26. Do Origami

Try your hand at the Japanese art form of origami! Buy some pretty paper and get to work learning the many folding techniques.

27. Draw or Paint

Open up your imagination with some drawing or painting. Plus, there are many online art courses for those who want a little help getting started.

28. Write a Story

If you aren’t that into art, do a bit of creative writing. Remember your favorite memories or cook up some exciting fiction.

Feed Your Mind

29. journal.

Practice mindfulness through reflective writing or with a gratitude journal. Leave your judgment behind and write whatever comes to your mind.

30. Do a Puzzle

Can you remember the last time you put together a puzzle? They aren’t just for kids! Fish out your old jigsaw puzzles and be pleasantly surprised as the images come together.

31. Listen to a Podcast

Keep up on current events or simply be entertained by a podcast or a radio show. This activity can be easily paired with many others, like baking or going for a run.

32. Read a Book

Put down the smartphone for a moment and get lost in a novel on a Saturday afternoon. It’s hard to beat the satisfaction of getting through a good book in a weekend.

33. Catch Up on Your Favorite TV Series

Nourishing your mind doesn’t always have to be academic. We all need a chance to relax and unwind at the end of the week. Give your brain a break and binge that show you haven’t had a chance to start yet.

34. Write a Letter

Sure, you could send a text, but who doesn’t love to get a letter? Get in touch with old friends who you haven’t seen recently or family members who live far away — the old-fashioned way.

In conclusion, the best way to have a great weekend is to plan ahead, get outside, try something new, relax and unwind, spend time with friends and loved ones, take care of yourself, and do something fun.

Of course, it can be hard to find the energy and motivation after a long week, but we’ve got you covered with The Weekender Set to help you chill out and get revived as needed.

With a little planning and some openness and flexibility, you can have an amazing weekend that you'll never forget.

17 Creative Weekend Routines For a Happier, More Successful Week

Marina Khidekel

Marina Khidekel

write your plans for the weekend

Your weekend routine can often set the tone for your upcoming week, so it’s important to spend your time doing what recharges you .

Oprah Winfrey , for instance, has said: “I always give myself Sundays as a spiritual base of renewal — a day when I do absolutely nothing. I sit in my jammies or take a walk, and I allow myself time to BE — capital B-E — with myself.”

We asked the Thrive Global community what they choose to do to prepare for a happier week ahead, and we’re seriously inspired to try a few of these fun, calming and downright creative weekend rituals. Pet-itation anyone?

“On the weekends, I look forward to an evening walk to observe the stars. Late in the evening, we bring along one device and use a stargazing app to locate planets, constellations, satellites and the International Space Station. The world fades away as we look to the skies, and our hassles seem less important when beholding the big picture. It’s our own form of grounding for the week ahead.”

— Marti Ouellette, life and business coach, Phoenix, AZ

Declutter your home

“I love to get chores done! Working from home can make it really hard to keep a routine, but knowing that I’ve cleaned on Saturday mornings prepares me mentally for the week. It’s amazing how much clearer my head is for the week when my home is clean. Working in a cluttered home makes my whole week feel scattered!”

— Michaell Johnson, blogger, Los Angeles, CA

Keep calm and watch rom-coms

“On the weekends, I like to keep calm and watch rom-coms. My Saturday mornings start at about 8 a.m. I wake up to a glass of water and write for a couple hours. But once that session is over, the onslaught of binging romantic comedies begins. It makes me smile, keeps things lighthearted and puts everything in a strange kind of perspective. A world with rom-coms can’t possibly be all bad.”

— Kern Carter, writer and author, Toronto, CA

Try device-free Sundays

“Weekends are gas in the tank for my week. Every dinner at our house is device-free, but we try to add to the equanimity by having a device-free Sunday. That just creates more space for naps, games and long walks. We don’t always stick to our ideals, but we give it our best every week.”

— Donna Carlson, life coach, Monument, CO

Prep your meals

“When it comes to preparing for the week ahead, I love to meal prep. Shopping, cooking and packing for the week ahead is not only a time saver, it’s also a health saver. Having meals prepared in advance that can either be eaten on the go, heated up or frozen until later in the week saves precious time and money. It also reduces the urge to grab stress fillers or meals that won’t fuel you properly. Take care of your body, it’s the only place you have to live in.”

— Joshua Miller, author and executive coach, New York, NY

Take a solo nature walk

“My weekend routine that makes my weekend happier is a solo walk by the lake — usually taking photographs. As we move into the autumn season, the colors are so very beautiful.”

— Karina Saakyan, journal development specialist, Lausanne, Switzerland

Put away the to-dos

“During the week, there is always something lingering that needs to be done. I used to spend time relaxing and then the whole time felt anxious about everything else I ‘should’ be doing. That killed any chance of feeling refreshed. Eventually I realized that recharge time, whether it’s extra time strolling in the park, in front of the TV or curled up with a good book, has to be prioritized equally as getting work tasks done, or you’ll never feel rested.”

— Allison Graham, keynote speaker, author, business coach, Ontario, Canada

Enjoy an at-home happy hour

“My weekend routine is all about time with the people I love most. Fridays I enjoy HHH (home happy hour) with my husband. We throw on records, open a yummy bottle of wine and sit outside on the patio with our pups to discuss our week. It’s a great opportunity to reconnect after a busy week of brief encounters.”

— Caitlin Root, strategic account executive, San Diego, CA

Exercise with your family

“One of my best weekend routines is a Saturday morning at the gym. Our gym does a great Kids Fit club, so my husband, my 6-year-old daughter and I all go off to the gym and do our own thing. Sometimes I’ll spin, sometimes yoga, sometimes weights. Once we’ve finished our classes or workout, we come back together for a quick snack and then hit the pool for a swim and a play. By lunchtime, we’ve got a good work out in and shared some quality time together.”

— Angharad Boyson, coach, Lincoln, UK

Quiet the work-talk

“I like to keep Sunday evening work-free, to make sure I’m really ready for Monday. I always make sure there is time out on Sunday. As soon as we’ve had Sunday dinner as a family there is no work/school talk, a complete switch off. Allowing time for us all to unwind before the week starts again on Monday and keep the weeks apart.”

— Tina McDonald, youth career coach and leadership facilitator, UK

Keep it unscheduled

“On the weekends, it is important for me to have unscheduled recreation. I love live music, dancing and the great outdoors, so my weekend rituals include these at some point. My intention is to not be scheduled with these right brained activities, and the truth is these activities fuel my spirit. By allowing my unscheduled passions to happen on the weekend, I feel more creative and open as the week unfolds.”

— Cathy Reinhold, business coaching, Houston, TX

Try “plogging”

“I recently replaced jogging with ‘plogging’ — picking up litter while I run. I thought the stopping and stooping would annoy me, but the burn in my leg muscles from lunging and squatting tells me I’m working them, which is satisfying. However modest the effect on the environment, it takes no extra time, makes me more fit and helps clean our world.”

— Joshua Spodek, author, speaker, and professor of leadership, New York, NY

“Beyond quality time spent with friends and family on weekends, I have a Sunday evening ritual that sets the tone for my week. I meditate with my dog. It sounds silly but it is a sort of bonding experience for us; sitting in silence, no disturbances or distractions — just a moment in time to reconnect, relax from an active weekend and set intentions for the upcoming week.”

— Jennifer Giamo, health and fitness expert, New York, NY

Take a restorative bath

“Every Sunday evening I begin my bath ritual in a way most people wouldn’t define as relaxing: I grab a Clorox wipe and clean my bathroom sink and tub. Clearing the space of empty shampoo bottles, soap slivers and rusted razor blades is the first step in relaxing for any recovering perfectionist. Once the space is prepped, I fill the bath with epsom salts, light scented candles and fire up my classical piano for relaxation station. During the bath I make a point to be mindful of my body and connect to it.”

— Rebekah Storm, body confidence coach, MN

Celebrate your successes

“Every Sunday evening, I take some time to celebrate my successes from the week. Sometimes there is a lot to celebrate, sometimes less but there is always something. I recommend listening to a relaxing soundtrack, closing your eyes and reflecting on all the good things that have happened during the week. Ending the week on a positive note helps me to start the next week happier.”

— Yasmina Hedhli, life and executive coach, London, UK

Write in a bullet journal

“Every Sunday evening, I take one hour to go though the following in my bullet journal for the upcoming week: Last week’s accomplishments, my remaining to dos, upcoming priorities and important events. I also ask myself, ‘What did I learn from last week?’ This routine keeps me on track with what actually matters in my life.”

— Marie Claire Bourque, MD, FRCPC psychiatrist, Calgary, Canada

Connect with the outdoors — and your creativity

“My routine is to go one day on the weekend technology-free, without my iPhone or laptop. I avoid tech as much as possible working on weekends, as this is my family time. Instead, I try to incorporate something that rejuvenates and opens my mind to allow my creative energy to flow, such as a visit to the beach to take in fresh air.”

— Anne Clark, business and life coach, Melbourne, Australia

The weekend

A hiker on a mountain

Listen to the conversation about plans for the weekend and do the exercises to practise and improve your listening skills.

Instructions

Do the preparation exercise before you listen. Then do the other exercises to check your understanding.

Preparation

Do this exercise before you listen.

Girl: So, have you got any plans for the weekend?

Boy: Yeah, me and my mates are going to this activity centre in the mountains.

Girl: Oh, yeah?

Boy: You can do all kinds of things. It's a new centre; it sounds great. We're going to go dirtboarding …

Girl: What's that?

Boy: It's like skateboarding or snowboarding. You have a board, or deck, to stand on and wheels. They're pretty strong because you go down rough mountain tracks on them. Steep, rough mountain tracks.

Girl: Sounds a bit risky. Have you done it before?

Boy: No, but I've done similar things. Anyway, we're also going to go canyoning. Before you ask, that's when you jump and swim down a river canyon. You have to use ropes and special equipment. And maybe we'll go white water rafting too.

Girl: Phew. It sounds far too difficult to me.

Boy: They have lots of things that you could do too. Like zip-wiring, you know when you go along a wire through the trees or down a mountain.

Girl: Go down a mountain on a wire!

Boy: It's really easy, and exciting too. You just have to hold on and enjoy the ride. Or there's bungee jumping.

Girl: Jump off a bridge on a long elastic band! Me? You've got to be joking! Anyway, I'm going away this weekend too, thank you for asking.

Boy: I was going to ask. So where are you going?

Girl: Paris! I'm so excited!

Boy: Paris, wow!

Girl: Yeah, it'll be brilliant! We're going to do all the sights, like go up the Eiffel Tower and take a boat along the River Seine and see the old parts of the city. It looks so beautiful in the photos. And then there are all the art galleries. You know how much I like art. I can't wait to go round the Louvre and see all those famous paintings.

Boy: I think the famous Impressionist paintings are somewhere else.

Girl: Yeah, I know, they're in the Musée d'Orsay. We're going there too. And then I want to go to the Rodin Museum and see that famous statue, you know, The Thinker. And of course, if we're in Paris, we'll have to go shopping. Or look at the shops, at least. And then there's the restaurants. Just think, French food!

Boy: You've got a lot planned for one weekend.

Girl: Oh, we're going for four days, actually.

Boy: Oh, four days, very nice. And who are you going with?

Girl: Oh, just a friend.

And we spend around four hours there and went back to our home in the evening. Then we became fresh and went to a beautiful restaurant for dinner. The restaurant was near a beach. I have come there before and I love that place so much. We ate and went back home.

And on a Sunday morning, we visited our grandmother. And finally, we went to the church in the afternoon. Overall that was an amazing time with my grandma and in the church. So I have visited a zoo, church, and my grandma on a weekend. That’s why this weekend was so much interesting to me.

talking about last weekend

When we’re talking about the weekend, it might be something that we did the last, the previous weekend. So when we use that, we’re typically using simple past.

For example,

  • Did you have a nice weekend?
  • How was your weekend?
  • What did you do last weekend?
  • What did you get up to last weekend?

So they’re just simple ways of asking the question about somebody’s weekend, and all of them use simple past formats of the verb.

The follow on questions that might lead to these when you’ve got your answers:

  • Well, what did you do?
  • Where did you go?
  • Who did you see?

Or you might ask somebody’s opinion.

  • Did you like it?
  • Did you enjoy it?
  • Is it worth going to?
  • How did you like it?
  • How did you enjoy it?

So when we talk about the previous weekend or last weekend, we usually use simple past.

Talking about your weekend plans.

So a very simple way of asking the question is,

  • Do you have any plans for the weekend?
  • Do you have any plans for this weekend?
  • What are you up to this weekend?

And we often use going to in these circumstances. We are talking about something in the immediate future.

👩‍🦰 So what are you going to do this week?

  • We’re going to go skiing.
  • We’re going to do some hiking.
  • We are going to play tennis.

Difference between ‘night in’ and ‘night out’.

If we want to look at expressions that we would use when we’re talking about weekend activities, then you might use expressions like,

I had a night in

Meaning: I didn’t go anywhere. I didn’t do anything. I stayed at home.

I just had a night in front of the fire a night in front of the TV and a night watching Netflix, I chilled out watching that series that you recommended.

The opposite is

I had a night out

Meaning: I left home and went somewhere else. I had some fun at some party or some restaurant or went clubbing.

We had a great night out on Saturday. You should have been there, it was really really good fun.

At the beginning of spring, we like to have a spring clean. We tidy up all the rooms to get rid of the rubbish that we’ve accumulated over the previous year.

Fun with Friends

On Sunday, I will meet my friends to play soccer. We all love the game and enjoy running around the field. After the match, we plan to have ice cream at our favorite shop. Sharing stories and laughing with my friends is the best part of my weekend.

Relaxing Evening

250 Words Essay on My Plans For Next Weekend

Introduction to my weekend plans.

Next weekend, I have some fun and relaxing activities planned. I want to balance my time between doing my hobbies, spending time with my family, and getting some rest.

Enjoying My Hobbies

Firstly, I plan to spend Saturday morning drawing. I love creating pictures of animals and nature, and I have a new set of colored pencils to try out. Drawing makes me happy and helps me to be calm and focused. In the afternoon, I will ride my bike in the park. Cycling is exciting, and I enjoy feeling the wind as I pedal fast.

Family Time

On Saturday evening, my family and I will have a movie night. We will pick a funny movie to watch together and make some popcorn. It’s a special time because we all sit together, laugh, and share stories. On Sunday, we will visit my grandparents. I like hearing their stories and playing board games with them.

Rest and Prepare

Sunday is also a day for rest. I will sleep in a little longer to be fresh for the new week. In the evening, I will prepare my school bag and uniform so that I am ready for Monday. Being prepared makes me feel less worried about the week ahead.

My next weekend will be a mix of joy, family, and rest. I am looking forward to drawing, cycling, movie time, visiting my grandparents, and getting ready for school. These plans will help me start the new week with a smile.

500 Words Essay on My Plans For Next Weekend

Introduction to my weekend.

Next weekend is a time I am looking forward to with much excitement. I have planned a variety of activities that are not only enjoyable but also useful for my personal growth. I will share my plans for next weekend with you in simple words.

Spending Time with Family

The weekend is the perfect time to be with my family because we are all free from our weekly tasks like school and work. On Saturday morning, I plan to make breakfast with my parents and siblings. We will make pancakes and enjoy them together. This is a special time because we talk and laugh, and it makes us feel close to each other.

Doing My Homework

After breakfast, I will sit down to do my homework. I believe it is important to finish schoolwork early so that I can enjoy the rest of the weekend without worry. I will focus on math and science because these subjects need more time. My goal is to understand everything well, so I might ask my parents to help me if I find something hard.

Playing Sports

In the afternoon, I plan to play soccer with my friends in the park. I love soccer because it is fun and it keeps me healthy and strong. We usually play for a couple of hours, and it is a good way to relax after doing my homework. Plus, playing with friends is always a great time.

Reading a Book

On Saturday evening, I have chosen to read a book. I love stories about adventures and magic. Reading helps me learn new words and ideas. It also takes me to new places in my imagination. I will pick a book from the library on Friday so that I am ready for my reading time.

Helping at Home

On Sunday morning, I will help my parents with cleaning the house. I think it is important to help at home because it shows that I care about where I live. I will do simple tasks like dusting and putting things away. It makes me feel good to see our home clean and tidy.

Learning Something New

In the afternoon, I plan to learn how to bake cookies. My mom is a great baker, and she has promised to teach me. I am excited to learn because I can share the cookies with my family and friends. It is also a skill that I can use in the future.

Preparing for the Week Ahead

Before the weekend ends, I will prepare for the week ahead. I will pack my school bag, prepare my clothes, and make sure I have everything I need. Being ready makes me feel calm and confident for the new week.

That is what I plan to do next weekend. It is a mix of fun, learning, and being responsible. I believe that a good weekend is one where I can enjoy myself and also do things that are good for me and helpful to others. I am looking forward to a weekend that is full of activities and also gives me time to rest and get ready for the week ahead.

That’s it! I hope the essay helped you.

14 Best Answers To “What Are You Doing This Weekend?” (Mostly, Flirty Responses)

  • March 7, 2024

Last Updated on March 7, 2024 by Ketan

During the weekdays, we all plan for the weekend to make it a perfect holiday.

Any plan, but to relax and do our favorite things.

But, when someone asks ‘What are you doing this weekend?’, this person wishes to add you to their weekend plan.

Normally, that’s what it means.

The coworker could ask this question just casually while walking out on Friday.

A friend who texts you asking “Any weekend plans?”, maybe they already have something to do for you.

This is to check if you’re available .

Even more, when someone from a dating site or your crush asks this, they mean ‘Are you available to go out with me on the weekend?’.

Well, whoever asks you, we’ve got you some best ways to share your weekend plans.

Funny Responses To “What Are You Doing This Weekend?”

Whether you’re ready for your friend’s weekend plan or not, make your answers sound hilarious.

Or at least make them laugh, based on the situation you are in.

Here are the funny answers to give when someone asks about your plans for the weekend.

Funny Responses To What Are You Doing This Weekend

1. “I’ve to do the housework that I skipped the entire week. Do you wanna help me?”

From laundry to dishes, there is so much on your weekend plan.

Meaning, it’s going to be a crazy weekend due to your entire lazy week.

If your friend asks “Any plan?”, you can share this funny response.

Hopefully, the right friend will offer a hand.

2. “I’m doing regular work at the office, my boss needs me there.”

So, this weekend will be missing from your entire life calendar.

This was no more weekends but regular weekdays where you still had to work.

3. “Why should I tell you? Did I owe you something? I do not think so.”

Well, it’s not a good idea to be rude to anyone who is just asking about your weekend plan.

But, this one is a funny response to a friend who always behaves sarcastically to you and everyone.

This is your chance to pay him back.

4. “Week-end? Say it again. I never heard that word before”

Because you’ve been working even on weekends lately, you’ve no idea what this friend is talking about.

Indeed, you’re saying this in a sarcastic tone.

So, friends who are aware of your situation, this response will make them laugh louder.

May you get their sympathy at least.

5. “Can I tell you the answer on Monday? I’m on a secret mission.”

When your coworkers ask ‘What’s your plan for the weekend?’ you don’t want to share it.

Or maybe you already know that they are about to ask you out.

This could be your policy to not date anyone from the workplace.

Else, you’re not interested in him, too.

So this is a clever way to be safe from any invitation.

6. “If you want to take me on a drive, I’m ready. But, I have no money.”

This your friend always borrows money , and never returns even if they’ve it.

Clearly, you’re not going to get your money back.

So you will try to get it back, the other way.

By making them sponsor this weekend. Because they want a company somehow.

7. “Sorry, my date for this weekend is fixed. Better luck next weekend.”

You already know why this person is asking about the weekend.

They’ve been trying to ask you out, but you’re not making it any easier.

But finally, as they are about to ask you, this response you can be direct and safe.

Glad that he asked you at the right time.

2. “You tell, us where we are going and what we are doing on the weekend.”

You’re all free for the weekend for him only.

Whether you’ve some plan or not, you don’t care.

While replying, first, you play a bit with him, telling him, you’re going on a date.

But then you reveal that the date is with him, if he’ll ask for it.

Means he’s thinking of taking you on a date, probably.

Straight away asking ‘Will you go out on a date with me?’ is risky.

So, he rather asks, ‘What are you doing this weekend?’, a safer route.

When it comes to answering it, you can choose to reply based on your interest to spend the weekend with them or not.

Also, if your friend asks so, based on your mood, you can give them funny responses.

Whereas, to your crush, you are waiting to be together, your flirty responses make it a memorable experience for both.

Subject : Plans for the Next Weekend

Take my love and affection. I hope you are hale and hearty by the grace of God. I’m also well by his blessings. In your last letter you asked me about my plan for the next weekend, since I only have some free time on weekends after a long busy week. So, I am very excited to tell you all about my plans for next weekend!

I want to pick up my favourite novels and read them in a warm cosy corner of my room over the weekend. Reading is one of my favourite hobbies and it is very sad that I do not get to read much on weekdays because of my workload. So, I really look forward to reading as much as I can on weekends.

This week I plan to read a few detective novels, and a volume of poetry as well. I also intend to go jogging on the weekend. It is very important to exercise to stay fit and healthy, and jogging is my favourite exercise! I also have plans to go out with my friends to a new restaurant that has recently opened up in our town.

And although I hate to work on the weekends, I must catch up on some work for the next week as well. Do tell me about what you plan to do on your weekend as well!

That’s all for today. Take care of your health and write to me whenever you have some time! I hope we can meet up soon!

Regards, Leela D

Is visiting a Florida state park in your Memorial Day plans?

While not all Florida schools have started their summer break , the siren call of lazy days on the beach, a Memorial Day road trip or enjoying one of 175 state parks is sounding pretty good right about now.

Even better: over the Memorial Day weekend, admission to Florida state parks is free.

Do these Florida state parks sound familiar? Have you visited one of the top 10 most popular spots or do you favor the quieter spots? No matter what attracts you, Florida's park system has something for just about everyone.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced earlier all Florida state parks will be free to enter during the Memorial Day weekend.

“Florida is stepping up to make summer more affordable for families,” DeSantis said when he announced the state would kick off the summer with savings for families by waiving admission for all visitors to Florida State Parks for Memorial Day weekend.

The weekend runs from May 24 through May 27.

Simplify your home over a weekend by following these 4 expert-approved steps

A s a professional organizer, I have a fairly decluttered and organized home. It’s not always picture-perfect, but it’s my priority to keep it organized so everyone in my family can find what they need.

But like everything else, keeping a tidy home requires regular maintenance, so I set aside a weekend a few times per year to streamline and simplify my home.

Below, I share my easy 4-step process that you can copy to simplify your home over a weekend.

Simplify your home over a weekend

Feeling overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of home organizing ideas and decluttering tips online? Take the stress out of your routine by following these 4 expert-approved steps.

1. Pre-Weekend Prep

Your pre-weekend prep doesn’t require actual work, but it does require some thought. In the days leading up to the weekend, think about what isn’t flowing smoothly in your home. These tasks feel more complicated than they should, the tasks you dread, and the spaces you clean up only to become a mess just minutes later.

I also want you to think about what you wish you had time to do in your home. Entertaining friends, spending time outside, or reading for pleasure for example. My only suggestion is to avoid adding things you think you should do.

Jot down notes as you live life. Keep it simple using the notes app on your phone or a simple scratch pad.

2. Focus on high impact areas

I want you to be realistic about what you can get done in one weekend. Set yourself up for success by choosing no more than three areas in your home that need to be simplified.

Remember the list of problem areas and tasks you created during the prep stage? Use that list to determine 2-3 projects for the weekend. The projects you select are the ones that make the most significant difference in your day-to-day life.

Here are some ideas:

  • You are eager to park your car in the garage before spring storms roll through, so you need to consider how to declutter a garage .
  • You’ve been eating more take-out than you’d like, so you want to get your kitchen cleaned out and organized in a way that inspires cooking.
  • You want to read for relaxation, so you want to set up a clutter-free space to bring your reading nook ideas to life.
  • Your kids’ after-school routines are a little haphazard in the second half of the school year, so you want to reset for a solid end of the year.

You get the idea! Evaluate the areas of your home that need a touch-up or the parts of your day-to-day routine that feel harder than they should, and plan to make some changes.

3. Declutter

Now that you know your focus areas for the weekend, it’s time to declutter. Clutter is anything that gets in the way of your goals or vision for your home. What is clutter to one person may be a prized possession to another person, so focus on you and your home when determining what to keep and what to discard.

You’ll have three piles:

Rehome: These items are still essential and must be in your home, but they don’t need to be stored where they are in your home.

Donate: These are items you don’t need but are in good enough condition for someone else to use.

Toss/Recycle: These items are not in good enough condition to keep or donate.

Ask yourself these questions if you get stuck on what to keep versus what to discard:

  • If the item broke or was lost, would I replace it right away?
  • If it were missing, would I even notice?
  • Is there something else in my home that serves the same purpose?

Your answers to the above questions will help you decide whether or not to keep an item.

4. Plan the System

Now that you have decluttered the space and everything associated with your weekend focus, it’s time to consider the flow of the space.

If your kitchen counter collects objects from all over the house, consider what they are and what storage solutions or drop zones you can implement to contain them before they reach the counter.

If your weekend focus is the garage, consider what items are in the way. Consider space-saving ways to use vertical storage and hang things on the wall to create more floor space. Install shelves or may even bike racks.

If you focus on creating a cozy reading nook, place a basket by a comfy chair that holds your book and a soft blanket.

5. Source Accessories

I always suggest making any organizational purchases as the last step because you may realize once you declutter, you don’t need nearly as many storage containers as you first thought.

This is the stage where you can blend style and design with function. It’s our favorite part of organizing in my company!

Handwoven from sturdy rattan and finished in white lacquer, this Sedona large storage tote from Crate & Barrel is a best-seller for a reason. It's perfect for neatly organizing bathroom items.

This container is perfect for stylishly sealing and storing coffee beans, dried fruit or snacks on your kitchen countertops.

This sturdy yet airy basket features a solid acacia frame with perforated metal sides. It's perfect for corralling small electronics and stationery.

As you plan your weekend, remember that the focus is on simplifying . Don’t add complicated routines and storage solutions for the sake of being 'organized.' Let your goals and how you use your home guide your steps.
